I can recommend Silverstone (Towcester) for their quality of service, it's cheaper than buying OEM parts through Design911, but I don't get any more than the 10% off.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I hear OPCs are probably the best place for OEM parts but just wondered which one is best for mail order? Are there any that are better on prices? My local one Mid Sussex seem about average but don't give good discounts Thanks Winny

POST 2Original post

I strongly suspect it will be the one you have the best relationship with. I know many of the staff at my local as I'm in there every week, they look after me on pricing. MC

POST 3Original post

In my experience of several OPC's, they don't offer a mail order service. So they are both reassuringly expensive and have yet to embrace the Amazon experience! After all, why make it easy for your captive customers... c:

POST 4Original post

OPC,s in general don't do discounts .. where you are then Mid-Sussex or Tonbridge .. i would try them first as it's who we use .. To be honest though .. discounts are mainly given to high volume buyers such as garages ... parts depts make money on selling parts at cost . Ie OPC buys a part from germany at 10% less than cost .. they have little margin to give customer discounts .. things like brakes and yes they get a far higher discount so it does depend on what you want to order .

POST 5Original post

PCGB membership which is about £70 for the year gives 10% off OPC parts prices.

POST 6Original post

Dick Lovett's Bristol have been fantastic for me.. Lewis, Richard and James in the parts department have all been really helpful and have looked after me on price.. admittedly I have bought a lot of parts in the last 6 months and both of my cars were supplied and are serviced by them.. Parts are sent out via DHL so arrive very quickly.. Regards Johnny

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone that's as I thought then no special deals to be had which is a shame. Will look into the club discount thing but at the moment I just need a few switches, clips and things that are worn out. I also need a new door speaker but may try a specialist breakers for that. Cheers Winny

POST 9Original post

PCGB05 was the Porsche club 5% discount code at an OPC. I could have a guess at what the 10% discount might be.

POST 10Original post

The 996 is now eligible for Porsche classic status membership. You can register your car with any OPC as a Classic and get 10% off all parts for free. I've already saved £100's, which I keep telling myself is a good thing. I can recommend Silverstone (Towcester) for their quality of service, it's cheaper than buying OEM parts through Design911, but I don't get any more than the 10% off. 9 apart also sometimes sell new OEM parts cheaper than I can buy from OPC, again small differences.

POST 11Original post

OPC's now ask for your membership number to verify the discount. It's also valid on repair work where parts are needed, although sadly not service parts.

POST 12Original post

There are some key rules for saving money! 1. Check the parts are Porsche specific. Quite a few parts are common VAG parts and are much cheaper elsewhere. A fair number are mentioned on this site. 2. Don't buy Porsche specific parts from 3rd party suppliers, you'll usually find them cheaper from the OPC and the likes of Type911 can be expensive. 3. Buy pattern parts. This is really down to you but some parts (e.g. Aircon condensers which can be found much cheaper from Aircon specialists) and, unless you have issues with non-originality, they are perfectly fine. Eurocarparts, CarParts4Less, Frazier etc. can help here, check them first.

POST 13Original post

I have always received 10% discount on all orders placed through OPC Bristol. As stated above, the parts guys there are fab' I am not a club member but they always give the discount when asked nicely. I even manage to squeeze a free pack of their yummy Porsche Gummy Cars into the deal

POST 14Original post

This is such a pain for me. I don't have a dealer that close to me, the nearest is probably 40 miles away. Some OPC parts from dealers are not that expensive, but as others have said, it's difficult getting them to mail order parts. I end up buying most of my genuine parts from Rose Passion in France and get them delivered in a few days at about a tenner delivery. Their service is pretty good, it's just a shame nobody in this country offers the OG parts by mail order. I mean the niggly parts, not the sort of stuff Design 911 will stock.

POST 15Original post

We have always had excellent service from Adam @ Porsche Bolton - although they deliver (so not postal orders) but we are one of the biggest purchasers in the UK and buy thousands of parts from them every year without issues. Baz
