Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use more' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace brake fluid every 12 months or sooner' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. ABS unit holds so very little that i don't feel there is a need to use a tester and bleed that .
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi
Not sure which I should go for.
Motul 660 or Castrol SRF.
I'm not tracking the car but I do have VERY spirited drives where it is safe involving high speed stops.
Thx
I had to do some research on this ..
The castrol .. mate that is damn expensive stuff !!
Motul 660 .. i was leaning towards this but after a bit of reading i came to the conclusion Motul 600 would be better .
The reason .. the higher Dry temps of brake fluid and the faster they absorb moisture .. if you are going to change the brake fluid every 12 months or sooner then fine go for either you have listed ..
But the cost of the Castrol has my eyes watering !
Motul 600 is designed for street race .. enthusiastic driving so should certainly cope in our climate .. hence that's what i took from reading about it versus the moisture absorption rate .
You will need a total flush of the brake system regardless so you will need more than 1 ltr .
ABS unit holds so very little that i don't feel there is a need to use a tester and bleed that .
For me .. i would take a bit more than 0.5 ltr out of the n/s/r caliper then move around the car with 0.25 per caliper .
The info i have found so far ..
Dot 4 Dry temp boiling 230 Wet temp 155 degrees C
Dot 5.1 Dry temp boiling 260 Wet temp 180 degrees C
Motul 600 Dry temp boiling 312 Wet temp 204 degrees C
With Dot 4 and 5.1 then different makes can have a higher rating than the industry standard which is listed above ..
ie Klondike has a Dry boiling point of 274 , Wet of 184 so higher than a standard dot 5.1 .
Pagid and its industry standards of 260/180 .
As far as i'm aware , i might be wrong as this certainly isn't my strong point but Porsche only list Dot 4 for the entire range of cars.
In essence do you have a problem that needs fixing ?
Dot 3,4 and 5.1 can all be mixed or bleed through with no issues .. you can't mix dot 5 at all with these .. its silicone based and is used more on cars that sit for a while .. it doesn't absorb moisture at all .. but it also does not dissipate it around the system like the other ratings .. as such if there is moisture in the system it will sit in that one place .
As we go higher in the Dry temp range then the fluid tends to absorb moisture faster .. for race cars this isn't an issue as i expect its changed at far more intervals than every 2 years .
Dot 5.1 .. a max would be every 2 years as that would be well into the wet area at that point .
Dry is fresh fluid , Wet is fluid that has absorbed moisture over time .
Best i can come up with from researching this ... Motul 600 or 660 with a change interval no later than 18 months or a Dot 5.1 at a max of 2 years .
