Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

22 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Front end after respray and new chrome grill mesh Please excuse photo sequencing as still a novice at this

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Bonnet before respray (note impending rust bubbling under badge)

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Bonnet after respray (just like new again)

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Rear bumper with diy reversing sensors that weren't quite the correct colour (oops!)

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Rear bumper now with correct colour-coded sensors (loverley)

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here's another picture of the front end after the respray and new chrome grill mesh (the previous was black) Looks the business now Just wish it was as easy to upload these pictures!!

POST 8Original post

Hi John That looks so much better. Especially the back. Nice to see the rear parking sensors matching. Good job Mike.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've also had the split-rim wheels done but will post pictures another day as thes have taken all night to work out!! Bye for now John

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh all right - last picture Here's one wheel before refurb. There is bad corrosion where they split The after photo isn't too good so will take another one and post later

POST 11Original post

Looks like a super job John. Freshened it up nicely.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Only thing is, went out for a run over the weekend and a couple of stone chips already!! John

POST 13Original post

How much did the front end respray cost. I am considering the same sort of thing on mine?

POST 14Original post

I have seen people driving around with what i think is called a 'car bra' which i guess is to avoid stone chips. Maybe its possibly to get a colour coded one and leave it on?

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The bonnet was £150 and the bumper was £125 (or it could be the other way round) I bought the grill mesh fom Halfords for £24 and used the old black ones (which I fitted last year) as a template. The wheels cost around £110 each (would have been £60 for non-split rims) as they had to be sand blasted first. In total I paid £780 and that included having the sensors done and the grills meshes replaced I thought that was a bargain It was done at Raw Wheels in Fulford, York John

POST 16Original post

Did Raw Wheels do the bumper and bonnet resprays?

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, Jon. They did the lot.

POST 18Original post

Wow, I feel ashamed. Mind you, mine looks good in the dark, which it has been for ever!! Congrats - you'll not want that yellow 997 now! Paul.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh, I don't know Paul. I think I've added a couple of thousand to the resale value!! Just need a buyer now and sell Jane's Boxster and I might have enough. Or I could get Daniel to leave college and get a job!! John

POST 20Original post

Why bother fitting something that looks awful, when you can get 3M stone protection film fitted that's nigh-on invisible? I'd have thought the cost was pretty comparable. [8|]

POST 21Original post

I have to say that a region 19 member has something like armourall or something, a thin clear vinyl film over the front of his 993 and unless you get really close you can't see the edge, and it is a light colour. Also remarkably, over the many years I have known this member the film shows no sign of yellowing or cracking with age. The owner tells me that this paint protection is expensive, but how it compares to the cost of a much more visible bra I have no idea. Personally I don't like the bra but each to his own.

POST 22Original post

Looks really good. Money well spent, in a man-maths kind of way!
