Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quick question, when I turn on the headlights the passenger side seems to only work intermittently. Any suggestions as to what this could be? Side lights etc work fine at all times? Have been told it could be headlight amplifier! Thought I'd read on here somewhere that it could be headlight switch but can't seem to find the post so maybe I was wrong. Was told it was unlikely to switch as if that was the problem neither headlight would work. Many thanks 2003 996 C4S

POST 2Original post

The most likely culprit is the connector in the front wing. The headlamp unit plugs in to a socket mounted on the bracket on the headlamp tray in the wing. The clips on the socket can pop out of the bracket, and the headlamp unit won't full engage in the socket. Check this, and give the connector a spray with contact cleaner (if you have some) before re-assembly.

Many thanks Richard for the fast answer. I'll have a look at that when I get back home tonight, I'll let you know.
