Within a matter of seconds the oil pressure gauge jumps back up to its normal running level, 4 to 5 bar, and the message on the obc screen disappears.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, just recently on my 996 C2 (2002MY) a warning message has started flashing up on the OBC screen, I can't remember exactly what it says - diagnostic fault - or something similar. At the same time the oil pressure guage drops to zero. No red or amber warning lights come on and the engine doesn't miss a beat. Within a matter of seconds the oil pressure gauge jumps back up to its normal running level, 4 to 5 bar, and the message on the obc screen disappears. am I righth in thinking that the pressure sensor send unit could be at fault? Thanks for any light anyone can shed on this. Paul.

POST 2Original post

Here is a 2002 with the same issue. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=419231 Might try that before replacing the sender.

POST 3Original post

Hi Paul. I had exactly the same issue with my MY 2003 C2 - the indicator dropped to zero and then shot back up again - exactly the same as yours is doing. Without a doubt it's the sender - either that or the connection to it. My OPC replaced my sender and all was well after that. There have been other threads about this. I was pretty shocked at mine going after 18,000 miles and at 4 years old! All the best. Let us know how you get on. Adrian.
