Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

33 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

"Roger Houston, The eagle has landed......." It's a 2000(X) Turbo in Arctic Silver with black leather. Fairly standard, but with a nice Kenwood SatNav/CD/DVD/TV system (which is more difficult to operate than the car). Absolutely chuffed to bits with it. The performance is electric!

POST 2Original post

Nice one, Richard! Congrats! ...And who ended up being the proud owner of your cosseted 996 C2? [ ]

POST 3Original post

[FONT=arial"]congratulations Richard. Looks great! Are you planning to modify this one too? SNDa

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sold it to an old boy (well, he was even older than me) in Banbury. He seemed happy, as did Peter Morgan after his inspection. No mods planned (yet), but I can now see why people tweak these things. The acceleration is addictive, and you would have thought that 420bhp is enough, but the car copes with it so easily it isn't surprising people want more.

POST 5Original post

Perfect Richard... You beat me to getting one! Enjoy. Well done with the colour choice P.S. Good choice of X-reg to miss out on Gordon's retirement contributions ... P.P.S. What's the turbo lag like on those ? Martin.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, that was the reason for getting a pre-March 2001 car. Seemed silly to get one a year newer and it cost you £250+ a year more in road tax. I just went for condition, mileage, and colour. (Spotless, 58000, and my second choice - Seal Grey would have just pipped it). And, of course, price (£31.5k - less than I paid for the Carrera!) First impressions are that Turbo lag isn't all that bad - certainly not as bad as my old Scooby. It's happy pootling about town too - not at all fussy. Being twin turbos and 4WD, it's not like the early cars which can catch you napping if you aren't careful.

POST 7Original post

Looks great, Richard [ ] That's an amazing bargain considering what it cost new. Hopefully, it'll now be virtually depreciation-proof

POST 8Original post

Congrats and the new motor Richard. Hope you have many happy and safe miles together! David

POST 9Original post

Super car, sir, well done! Private buy presumably? Might just tarnish my excitement at going to look at a wee grey c4s tomorow... Health and happiness at the wheel, I am sure it must be a complete hoot to drive! All the best Des

POST 10Original post

An awesome machine, and at that price, surely the motoring bargain of the year! Well done Richard![ ]

POST 11Original post

Hi Richard, Excellent new P&J. Have you got any internal shots of the Sat Nav??? Driven a few 996 TT's and probably should have gone for it instead of the C4S but when I drove her she stole my heart[ ] Plenty of happy, very smiley days motoring for you me thinks!!!!! Alan

POST 12Original post

Awesome car, congratulations and what a bargain! Silver is about the best colour for the 996 Turbo IMO, really shows off the lines. Looking forward to reading about your modifications [ ]

POST 13Original post

Nice! If they've got any more for that price, I could be tempted!!

POST 14Original post

Congratulations Richard your new Turbo looks stunning. Very wise on buying a car without the Porsche PCM unit [ ]

POST 15Original post

Nice one Richard, it looks really good. Have you stuck with Tiptronic or gone for a manual this time? Terry

POST 16Original post

looks lovely Richard. Hope you enjoy many happy miles. What an absolute bargain too.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here you go: And with the screen out: Not too easy to get at the aircon controls, but I tend to leave it in auto anyway. The gismo on the right hand side is a bluetooth control. I've got to fit my Origin camera detector, so it's going to look a bit more untidy. (Still wish I had the Pioneer back). Another Tiptronic. 3rd in a row. For my type of use it's ideal, but if it was a weekend toy I'd probably choose a manual.

POST 18Original post

Wow! And may we ask how you found one at that price ?

POST 20Original post

there's a lapis blue one on there at moment for 31.950 , you could get it for 30,000 I reckon. 2001 tip.

POST 21Original post

this is nice http://www.charlesofwindsor.co.uk/view.asp?ID=1566

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's just down the road from me. It has been on the market for months - starting at £35995, so they might take a bit less than the £33000 they are asking for it now. I would have gone to look at it, but wanted a change from blue.

POST 23Original post

Very nice motor Richard...and at that price quite a bargain too.....sir I salute you ! [ ][ ]

POST 24Original post

But Zeb, you've missed your punchline... nice colour but it would be quicker if it was blue!

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

But silver is the new blue....... [ ] [ ]

POST 26Original post

Richard - where have you been- silver has been the new blue since I got mine last year ... especially those with black rear badges ;-)

POST 27Original post

to be honest rob I was still reeling over the price....hmmmmmm[ ] anyway, sorry for my temporary fall from grace....normal service is resumed blue is the new silver..everyone knows that they are faster in this colour, so richard, nice car..wrong colour ![ ][ ][ ][ ]

POST 28Original post

It's a well known fact that silver's drag effect can only be eradicated through liberal use of blue. Almost any shade of blue will do, although iris blue is noticeably more effective. [ ]

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Spooky, fate or what? I was flicking through PP tonight, and found the advert for my car. (I was too late to withdraw it as it was after publication). Listed immediately below mine, was the car I bought!

POST 30Original post

Hi Richard, A little late but congrats on the car. It looks awsome (just got back from US and they use that word a lot in my office!!!!) If you squint on a dark night it might just look seal grey!!!!

POST 31Original post

Hiya - coincidentally bumped into your buyer at Silverstone at the weekend, not sure how the conversation cropped up but I did recognise your interior colour ! A charming chap, and you will be pleased to know he is still a very happy bunny with your car. All the best Des

POST 32Original post

I may be tempted if I can find one at that sort of price, did your "old" car sell easily Richard?

POST 33 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Easier than I thought it would do, but then again it was priced to sell. No response at all from adverts here, Pistonheads, or 911UK, but 3 days on the Autotrader web site and it was sold.
