Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. Must admitt though since the Clutch was replaced, the clutch pedal is lighter, the shift from 2nd to 1st is easier (not quite as tight as it was), and on a whole a 100% improvement, now just to sort the above problem lol.

Its ironic that its acceptable to Porsche to be antisocial in your car on the public hyways and byways but not to drive on a track which is what the car was designed for and tested on.

Suggestion
Bought my Camen S with 1,500 Miles on the clock, complained to Porsche within two weeks about the clutch juddering while setting off and sometimes while holding the clutch on the bite point the pedal would jump and the car would stall.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Good News, Porsche has just fitted me a new clutch under warranty and going to pick the car up in an hour or so
(great customer service I must add)
Just a little worrying that such warranty work needs doing at 3000 miles, but im putting that down to 1,500 miles of my porsche centre using it as a demo car
Sounds like your car may have suffered the 'pressure plate bolt' issue. This probelm seems to effect a pretty good number of early build cars while others are just fine. The good news is that once corrected, your car should be good and reliable.
For those who have had the "pressure-plate" problem; were there any early warnings signs...?
After 4500 miles, all of a sudden while shifting from 3rd to 4th, the clutch got stuck to the bottom.......Stayed there for abt 1 sec........After tht no problems...
My worry is- Could this be a harbinger for future "presuure-plate" replacement .....?
Thats the syptom, clutch on the floor, not going anywhere fast. It happened to me at the track and I didn't know what was going on. I just told the dealership I was being a prick at a stoplight when the problem surfaced its ugly head

Doc Rishi---Believe this as likely to be the loose slave cylinder syndrome; not as common as pressure plate but characterized by miscellaneous funny clutch action abnormalities. Pressure plate bolt problems will first exhibit difficulty of engaging first gear. Haven't had either myself but have been under my car to check that the one bolt (!) that holds the cylinder is tight. This is easy and done from the left side with the car on stands. The cylinder is surprisingly accessible on top of the transmission.
Thanx guys....Was planning on a long trip over Easter....Now will have to take a trip over to the dealer to see if the cylinder is tight.....
Wish I could do it myself, but I wouldnt recognise the slave cylinder from the brake calipers even if I tried....
Well, maybe if someone was kind enough to post a picture....
I've got a March 06 build and have been experiencing some clutch issues.
I can't remember the last time I stalled a car (26 years of manuals) and I've already stalled this car at least 5 times and slipped the clutch a couple of times on steep grades.
I slipped the clutch pretty bad the other day with an aggressive dead start take off.
The car shifts great once it gets going. I now have the burnt clutch smell in my garage every time I go somewhere.
My car has 9500 miles on it. Do you think I could still be a canidate for warranty work? How much does a clutch replacement cost?
Thanks
Update:-
Problem no 2.
Since getting my car back from having the clutch replaced, I noticed the rear end dosent feel quite as tight when cornering, and have had an intermittent "clunk" coming from the driver side rear, car is booked in again for looking at Tuesday, the noise sounded like a coil spring settling in at first, but it has done it again since, feels and sounds like they left something loose maybe a suspension arm etc and the geometry is out at the rear.

In response to Chops I did experience the burning smell.
I think I have the same issue.
I have stalled the car twice (driven a 2 stick porsches, a bmw and a alfa for the last 10 years) in the last week and there is significant juddering when moving off from a standstill
the gear shift has also got very tough - it feels as though its about to seize up...
In my previous experience with Porsches, I was never really satisfied with clutch life. My BMW M3 has about 85,000 miles on its original clutch, and it seems to be funtioning quite well. Hopefully Cayman clutches are not a problem.
Sorry to hear that some of you are having clutch problems.

Join the club. My 2007 Cayman S has 550 miles on it (yes, 550) and the transmission/clutch have already failed. Won't shift into 1st or reverse and the drivetrain has to be pulled out for an inspection. Porsche has a problem here. Interesting to see that even Car and Driver magazine has to have a new transmission in their long term Boxster S. In my case, I got to drive the car for all of 4 days.
The exact same problem I was having with my car. Kept stalling it. Had to slip the clutch (excessively) to pull away. I think you're experiencing the transmission/clutch failure that many have written about.
Clutch/Transmission Trouble at 500 miles
Yes, it's really killing my confidence in Porsche and the Cayman. I know that cars break, but I'm finding out that there are plenty of other people who are having the same problem, so this isn't an isolated issue. Porsche should step up and take care of this.
Worse, I nearly got killed making a left turn across traffic in LA. The damn thing stalled in the middle of the intersection. Again, not a confidence-inspiring experience in the first week.
