Seems as though they used some sort of foam to insulate the hatch's counter weight.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Thought I would let you guys know since you might have the same problem that my dealer fixed a rattle/vibration that had defied identification since I've owned the Cayman. The tech determined the rattle was coming from the intake side of the engine. After removing the engine cover, he determined the noise was caused by the airfilter housing vibrating against the frame. He installed a foam gasket and the noise is gone.

POST 2Original post

So why is this in complaints? Finally, a helpful dealer!

POST 3Original post

I had a rattle too - dealer found it coming from the back latch area. Fixed it by adding felt to the area. Park Place Porsche in Dallas rocks! Great folks - parts, service, & sales.

POST 4Original post

man if they could figure out my vibrating steering wheel that would be great.

POST 5Original post

You took it to the dealer for the force balance and it didn't work? Don't discount the aero/aftermarket wheel mods if so.

POST 6Original post

Yeah....took my new Cayman for a ride yesterday and noticed a "latch-like" vibration coming from the back. When I got home I noticed that there was a bit of 'play' when pushing slightly down on the trunk lid. Thanks for confirming what I thought.......I will try the same fix. Did they "wrap the latch" in felt?????

POST 7Original post

Rear Hatch Thud Dealer fixed my rear hatch thud with what apeared to be a "fix" found here on one of our threads. Seems as though they used some sort of foam to insulate the hatch's counter weight. It's been 2 weeks now.........so far, so good.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
