Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

My 987.1 door handles seems abit wonky, after i unlock the car it takes a couple of pulls before it finally opens. 2 months ago it took 2 to 3 pulls but now it takes at least 4 to 5 pulls before the door releases. I'm aware of the autolocking and having to pull twice but 4 to 5 times seems excessive and suggest an issue. I'm thinking to replace the door lock actuator or is the issue cable related. Any advise would be really appreciated and if possible sharing of part # would help greatly as well so that i can order the right parts. Its driving me nuts and Im afraid one day, i wont be able to open the door after many many pulls. TIA

POST 2Original post

I have a feeling this isn't anything to do with the autolocking (2-pull) mechanism. Does it make any weird noises when you pull the handle? Does it resist/feel like it's doing anything when it fails to open? I took my passenger side door card & cover off last week (unrelated issue), and it's a bit of a pain in the ***. Watch a few guides and, if you do DIY it, you should get some replacement door card clips as you'll almost certainly damage one or more. If not, take it to a specialist. I'd examine 15 (bowden cable) being frayed/split, or one of the ends being damaged, and I'd also look for damage on 14 & 2 (the actual lock, and the hinge). Hinge ( 2 ) part no is 997 531 32X 00 (X = 1 left, X = 2 right) Bowden Cable ( 15 ) part no is 997 537 319 01 Door lock - don't know what your car's spec is, so check the parts catalogue. Good luck - let us have an update.

POST 3Original post

I think the bowden cable would only affect the inside handle. From Jong's description, his issue is the outside door handle requires multiple pulls. It isn't clear if it also happens from inside. Also Jong - does the window dip each time the handle is lifted? Does this occur is you leave the window down a bit when you lock the door? I'm not sure if the inside and outside handles use the same switch for this.

POST 4Original post

My autolock is disabled and no noises as well, just that it doesn't open after the handle is pulled and take numerous tries. Feels like the pull doesn't latch on the lock and release it. Once I feel that it latches then the door opens immediately. I have been trying to research it but doesn't seems like many have this issue. Most issues are that the door just doesn't open at all.

POST 5Original post

My issue is both internal and external handles requires multiple pulls to open. The window comes down when I manage to open the close after multiple pulls and moves up when I close the door if I'm not mistaken.

POST 6Original post

Jong, have you had it professionally looked at by a tech? you can try to gently bump/hit your fist against the door lock area (near the door handle) after unlocking the door. try this before attempting to open the door. If it works, your door lock actuator if likely failing. these are a common failure point - i have replaced both sides so far.
