I tried to swap the parts between the broken one and the good one, so I could re-use the older bowden cable hook thingie, but got stuck trying to get the spring back into position.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hello, my door handle went floppy, and I ordered a replacement door lock pivot lever, and then discovered that it didn't work with the bowden cable in my 07 cayman . I tried to swap the parts between the broken one and the good one, so I could re-use the older bowden cable hook thingie, but got stuck trying to get the spring back into position. I watched some youtube video were a guy snapped the spring into place in 3 seconds https://youtu.be/CwTgsZmSf-U?t=129 , but after spending an hour, I had to give up. I just couldn't get the spring to turn enough to latch on to the plastic piece that had broken. Does anyone have any tips or advice for getting the spring into position? Are there any tools i could use? I tried using a screwdriver as a lever, but the spring either jumped out of the little slot that holds it in place or i couldn't get the spring to go over the latch. I tried both the old and new springs, but they both seem to be the same strength.

POST 2Original post

I've posted this previously, but are you aware that you can swap the pivot lever from one door to the other on a 987? They're the same part number, just installed "upside down" from each other in each door. I'm sorry this doesn't help you with the spring installation, but if youve struggled this long you should ask someone to help you. It's literally a five-minute operation at most to swap the spring. Bringing a necro-thread back to life.. any resolution to this? I managed to break the new fitting I bought trying to get the spring into place. There is obviously a trick to it - which eludes me. The video would be WAY more helpful if one could actually see the spring as he puts it back in place - but gloved fingers don't allow for that.
