I had already replaced the transceiver and MCU, but like you I thought, what the heck and swapped both transceivers and both front wheels.

Suggestion

I'd really check the connection wiring at the transceiver since these are known to corrode and get bad.

Suggestion

By pinning it out I take it you mean to check the continuity of each wire involved in the right front from the transceiver to the MCU?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I recently purchased a 2010 987 Cayman and the tpms light was on. The seller had 4 new sensors but had not had a chance to have them installed. I thought, no problem, I will just get them installed and that will take care of the problem. Boy was I wrong! I had them installed and all four were transmitting but the right front didn't display anything. I found out there was a transceiver just behind the wheel well cover so i got the part number and ordered one on Ebay. Installed it but no help. I go to the Porsche dealer and they confirm all were transmitting and would need to dig into the wiring from the main controller to the obc but were too busy then so i would have to leave the car there for a while. I found out where the main control unit was, got the part number and replaced it. No help! If anyone has any idea what may be my problem, please let me know. Thanks

POST 2Original post

If you haven't already, I would swap the front wheels, then the front transceivers. Make sure the problem stays on that side. Reset the TPMS by swapping winter/summer setting between each swap and give it a good 20 min drive in between. I'd really check the connection wiring at the transceiver since these are known to corrode and get bad. I do have an extra MCU if you want to give that a go too........Food for thought.

POST 3Original post

I really appreciate your input. I had already replaced the transceiver and MCU, but like you I thought, what the heck and swapped both transceivers and both front wheels. Drove out I-40 about 15 miles and then back. Did the winter tires and everything else I could think of but nothing has helped yet. This thing has really got me baffled! I sure would appreciate it if anyone out there has any ideas of what I should do next. I heard somewhere that there was a service bulletin from Porsche about a ground problem but I don't know anything more about it or how to find out more.

POST 4Original post

Well, here is the next step........pinning it out.

POST 6Original post

Thank you so much for the wiring schematic! That was the next thing I was going to search for. By pinning it out I take it you mean to check the continuity of each wire involved in the right front from the transceiver to the MCU? Thanks again!

POST 7Original post

Yes, check continuity on each line. If the schematic is not completely correct, check the wire colors back to the control unit. I'd also give the ant connector a good cleaning with some alcohol, acid brush and a good blast of air to dry. Connector at control unit should be presiteen, so I'd not expect a cleaning is needed there......

POST 8Original post

Thanks! If I can’t find the culprit tomorrow I’m taking it to someone. Do you know anything about a TSB referring to a ground problem with the TPMS system.

POST 10Original post

great posts, stupid question, am having the same issue, where is the transceiver located in the right wheel well? i have no idea what i am looking for. it is a 07 CS with 109K. have had it up to a specialty tire group that knows porsche and have some device that communicates through the ObD and they are baffled as well. thanks in advance.
