Hello folks -
I get a load static noice, almost ear piercing, that lasts for a few seconds when I open my driver side door
its intermittent and the radio will not work afterwards for a few hours.
Any thoughts and help would be appreciated.
2006 Cayman S
- all stock.
My first guess would be that you have a short or other connection problem in the cable(s) that go into the door. If you are able, I would remove the door card and see what's going on in there. Pay special attention to the cable where it goes from the door edge through to the rest of the body.
Good luck, and let us know what you find.
The static sound comes blaring through the speakers -
this happens with the radio shut off. Then causes the radio to not work for a day or two.
Almost like a capacitor discharging - amp maybe?
was hoping this was a common problem so I could find a cure for the mystery.
I'm having the exact same problem. When I have time this week I'm going to pull the radio out and check the connections behind it. Failing that it may be an amp problem as I've seen companies in Europe offering a repair service for the
Porsche
Bose amp
.
Thread I created already
Did anyone find a solution/cause to this? I just had the same issue yesterday. Car was sitting for about 5 weeks. Also seems to have affected the digital displays around the tach/speedo.
What issues with the digital display do you have? I also had the center display stop working correctly, I think around the same time as my audio system started playing up.
Best way I can describe it is some pixelation in the digital readouts. Granted these are old LCD displays, so its not really a pixel. Where there should be dark crystals, a few here and there were light. My car is in storage and I haven't been back in to see if the stereo has started working again as other user described happening, or if that loud static noise occurs again when I open the door. What did you have happen? Any cause/fix that you determined?
That's exactly the same issue I'm seeing with mine. Is your a
Bose system
?
I'm also having this problem with a 2005
Boxster S
. Did you find and solve the issue?
Thank you for that information, most helpful! With more research, it looks like it is a pretty easy fix with the amp. installed in the front trunk and easily accessible. I already see
Bose
brand replacements on Ebay that are reasonably priced (for
Porsche
parts). I really appreciate the response.
It's a very easy replacement. Double check the part number on the amp before you buy it to make sure you are getting the right one.
There are only around 2 clips holding the amp in place plus a large connector block that needs to be released first.
i have the same issue, it's a 2014
981s
and first time
porsche
owner, any tips on where to look/find the amp?
If it's in the same location as the 987 models then I would expect it to be in the front trunk under some fabric panels.
Though it might be behind the driver seat in the newer models. There maybe some carpet covering it which needs cut 😞
