Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have never been a Porsche fan as always bought sports cars made in Britain. I was seriously looking at the Lotus Exige roadster but having had a Lotus Elise it was still too Spartan. So I placed a deposit on a Boxster GTS manual back in March and picked up last Friday and it was going to be love or hate. All I can say is what a car, two days in and 200 miles later still getting to know the car. The dealer experience however was nothing short of appalling; I experienced delays in picking the car up with reasons that the transporter was not full, and then the transporter had broken down. Repeated calls to the dealer I was informed that it could be another week and at this point I wanted to cancel the order so a call to Porsche UK and the car was delivered two days later. Handover consisted in signing the paperwork, the salesman driving the car out of the showroom and passing me the keys I asked a simple question relating to the emergency key and was informed that there was no such key so the salesman’s knowledge of a Boxster was zero maybe he was the cleaner in a suit as it was 17:45 on a Friday so he probably wanted to go home!!. No flowers for the other half, no whisky for me and just a clear pocket file for the sale documents maybe after my previous Aston experience I was expecting too much. So a letter will be going in to Porsche UK and the dealer principle to highlight my concerns and the car will be going to another dealer for all servicing or warranty claims (hopefully none). On a positive note I have definitely made the right decision, in sports plus changing down I will never get tired on the blip on the throttle and when I can I will place some photos on PH,

POST 2Original post

If I can ask, why were you expecting flowers or whiskey?

POST 3Original post

I have sports plus I'm my Cayman S manual and it is indeed fantastic. I find I change gear far more than is really required.

Glad you are enjoying the car. Your experience in collection is in complete contrast to the 3 experiences my wife and I have had buying from Porsche main dealers (1 new, 1 used, one nearly new). I would def put a letter to the dealer principle. As an example, Silverstone cleaned my current car whilst I was test driving the car I bought, were a pleasure to deal with, and even cleared the car park so a mate could drop me in by helicopter to collect

Magic919 said: There are no dealer principles. Agree! "dealer" and "principle" in the same sentence is an oxymoron. However "moron" and "dealer" in same sentence is fine! I still don't get why dealers behave so badly at vehicle handover. It takes very little effort to make the experience worthwhile and the dealer potentially gets service and possibly additional purchase revenues for their efforts.

POST 9Original post

You should use Solihull, I have had Champoo twice and a nice White/Red combo with the last car from them, plus excellent hand over service on all 3 occasions?

Perhaps, as he has alluded, his expectations were based on past experiences of buying expensive motor vehicles. HTH

POST 12Original post

I'm sure you will enjoy the car, there are an awful lot of Lotus owners who have made the change over to a Porsche including my self and a fellow Lotus Anorak has just bought a new Cayman S.

POST 13Original post

Gents are you serious about OPC Silverstone and Solihull. Hahah

POST 14Original post

Been dealing with Solihull since 2006, never anything but excellent service when buying, servicing, courtesy cars or warranty claims?

POST 15Original post

Steve Maund said: If I can ask, why were you expecting flowers or whiskey? I bought a bottle of Grants in the Coop last night. My demands for a Boxster GTS thrown in on the deal fell on stony ground.
