If it’s 550BHP, manual box and RWD I’d want it as a car to use very regularly and put some miles on/enjoy!

Anyone got any recent info on these aside from the older on line speculation? Does anyone have letter of intent in or expect to get one or will it be the usual 1 per OPC nonsense?
Why would people want one?
Is it because:
- Unobtainium - makes having one ‘exclusive’ ?
- The hope of making some tax free money (assuming the market remains bullish) ?
- It will actually be a very good/usable car ?
- It will be the last of the blah, blah, blah ….. ?
Just curious

Yes seen that thanks - think it looks great, I personally much prefer the ducktail to the OTT GT3RS spoiler.
The last sports classic was a 997 S with some awkward looking 70s bit thrown at it. Very valuable though given it’s low numbers, but easy to replicate if you like that look.

The latest rumors speak of a presentation at the end of the month.

It was a 997 GTS with a lot of expensive bodywork and interior uogrades.
The 992 SC is rumoured to be mechanically more like a GT2….so think the power of the 911 Turbo but RWD…600 plus bhp. Who knows if it comes to be anything like that but as per usual the people getting one will already know who they are. If you have to ask for one it won’t be you that’s getting one.
There’s also rumoured to be a car coming our for the 50th anniversary of the 2.7 RS. Despite it being known as a 73 RS it was launched at the Paris show in 1972. So imagine it might appear this autumn.

Haha, ok fair enough. I'll accept awkward and expensive as interchangeable. Maybe awkward but expensive would be better?!

Confirmed?
Genuinely interested to see what the car is - GTS motor or detuned Turbo. Price point also, around Turbo S or over £200K

The car have 550hp 3.8 Turbo (Not S) engine and RWD (unique to 3.8 Turbo platform) and Price is about €280K Base from what i was told.

That makes my Touring seem like a bargain!!!

Jonathan19, how do you know this figure of 280k Euro?
Someone who get the car said it's the Price to expect.
Will know the official price soon.

That number was mentioned online in an article. I fine it hard to get my head round that given the cars based on a turbo and will have an axle less! I’d have thought £170/£180K would be more realistic. But, hey, it’s Porsche so who knows!

Oh din't know media have the price, well i also found the Number Big but will not be a surprise from Porsche that for sure.
200,000 euros is a good deal for me, but Limited means expensive for Porsche.
Hope the car look good like the 997 Sport Classic.
The same article also quoted Turbo S engine...
...my guess is Turbo engine with 550hp and production of 992 is correct.
Maybe though the price is wrong like the engine size.

Only 992 is a low Numbers from Porsche.
Since Porsche Made 1948 Speedsters i will Hope more that only 992.
Will see.

Are you sure Tuesday, Runningretailer??
One of the first reports was on 26th April 2021 on Pistonheads and not 2022...
Not got your wires crossed, how do you know really?

£160K and they are going to sell 200 in the UK. Oh, and there’s a flying pig outside my window!
Likely be £200K plus and 50 odd cars, so one per OPC.
finmac said:
So, if there’s 1250 units worldwide. How many Will UK get as our share? 100 (or 2 per OPC) or maybe 150?
992 cars. Its the same number for all the heritage models.
Around 100 id think

60 odd limited Heritage Targa's made it ashore. I can't imagine the Sports Classic being any where close to 100.

If it is the 992 Turbo engine, then it trumps it in: Power, Torque, 0-60mph acceleration, Top Speed, in gear acceleration etc....

Have you driven a GT3 and a Turbo? I seriously doubt it. I don't know of one person who thinks the Turbo engine is better than the masterpiece in the GT3. Top speed, 0-60 etc. all irrelevant unless you are 8 years old or like to show off at traffic lights.

Own both 992 GT3 and 992 TTS.. yes the Turbo Engine powerful but feels laggy.. GT3 engine always special once warmed up

Why would you ‘seriously doubt’ I have driven any of them?
The performance figures might be irrelevant to you, but you asked how does the 992 Sport Classic trump the GT3, and as performance cars to a large degree are measured by performance figures, they do play a big part, especially the ones quoted. I agree they’re not everything.
Nevertheless, if you’re playing ‘Top Trumps’ then yes, the GT3 Touring or Regular would get trumped by the new 992 Sport Classic in those areas, if indeed it is the 550bhp engine Turbo engine.
And yes, last year I was looking to buy, and test drove a 992 Carrera S, a 991.2 Turbo S and a 991.2 GT3. Both lovely in their own way, but for me personally I preferred the daily usability of the Turbo engines. The mid range punch and ease of overtaking, plus I found the GT3 a bit too hard and noisy for my liking. In the end, I ordered a 992 GTS from the same OPC, as I much preferred the newer interior of the 992 and as many respected motoring journalists have said, including Harry Metcalfe, it seems to be the sweet spot of the range and a better road car.

Interesting. Looks like a SC from the seat colour and badge on the front wing.
Not sure why you would want a GT3 bonnet and bumber on it though!
Would that not upset the balance of the car?
What is the source of this pic please?

Black window trims and that would be my perfect spec. Hats off to the owner, enjoy.
You cant have the matching colour mirror bottoms without the silver trim, which why I assume some owners have had to go for it.

I saw 2 cars awaiting collection at Porsche Hatfield last week. All I can say is that pictures do not do justice to them.
For what it’s worth they looked absolutely fine with chrome window trim.

Thats been photoshopped - both the Touring and Sport Classic where at Oulton in Midnight Blue.
Wrong roof for Sport Classic (no bulges) and wrong interior for GT3 (heritage not available for GT3?)
Doesn’t look like it’s been photoshopped to me tho.
Touring with aftermarket ducktail and retrofit interior?
Looks stunning in my view.

Nice. Have done a few miles in one now. Jurys out for me. Extremely powerful, comfortable and stunning looking.....but not sure if its a 'fun' car yet!
It’s a feel good car. The level of personalisation and detail for Porsche 911 geeks is titillating. I love them although too expensive for a 911 IMO and will probably just get even more expensive

It does get quicker and sound better once the running in miles are done, also like most of these 992s that I have driven it rides better with 29/32Psi cold.

Lovely Deep Sea Blue PTS one listed today
https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/16957728
looks like the one which was at cambridge for months
Looks nice, but if I was getting one of these it would have to be in the launch colour as the light grey really suits the car and the tan leather gives it a great retro look. Which is what makes it such a special car. it's a cheap car if you compare it with the price of the Singer 911 and other retro cars.
Thanks. Not taken any pics of interior as yet. Yes heritage. Looks like all options were ticked, inc watch. Had the “60” removed before collection. 250 miles. Not sure if there is a running in period but kept the 150 mile journey home below 4,000rpm until I find out.
Most are in the OPC's for sale as were swopped for ST when it came , the car in West London been there for about 6 months ....Halfords look , had a ride in a nice Resto-mod the other day ( I would fit trumpets and RSR cams ) now that was a fun car and looked better .

Is it possible to get the roundel removed and leave just the Porsche on the side?
Assume these still sell for a healthy premium over list? just checked OPC site, looks like 320-350k

All the special stuff is gradually getting back towards list price. GT3 RS WP are @£35k overs at best in the trade, that’s if anyone is willing to buy into stock.

Yes the white stripes on the bonnet, roof and ducktail are painted and the PPF is applied over the paint. For the door decals, they are stuck on and applied over the PPF. The numbers are then another vinyl stuck on top of the roundel. So you can remove any bits of the decals and roundel but it would take out the "RS" which is stenciled, so you would need replacements. Best left to the experts with careful use of heat.
