Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If that fails, I recommend the spirited drive with the windows down method.....

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Literally, not metaphorically.
Now that the weather has improved ever so slightly Ive noticed that trying to cool the interior of the car is not easy. Aircon goes down to 18 degrees and thereafter to "Lo". Problem is that this really isnt very much use in a car that has heated up in the sun. Dear knows how it will cope in summer.
My Audi A3 goes to 16 before going to Lo. Much better. Now find myself having to drive with both windows down every 10 minutes just to get cool. Not desperately convenient on a motorway drive.
Anyone else got this? or better still some tip for cooling the car?
At "Lo", mine is enough to give me frostbites!
Might be worth getting the AC checked out for leaks or refilled. I believe JZM are doing an offer on regas.
Im sure there are locals indy that may doing it cheaper but not sure what it entails for the 996, or if there is much difference to refil AC gas on a conventional car then a porsche.
-Best get it done now as the heat always see the prices soar for these services!
Do you have a warranty? There's a good chance the condensers have got corroded and are leaking
That's what happened to mine so got both replaced. Very common on 996...
yes I have the warranty so hopefully covered.
Dont get me wrong, it does produce cool air. My main complaint is more that it goes to lo at 18 which may or may not mean that lo is 17 ish. Reckon its cooler in the Audi which switches to lo after 16.
Air con? What's that? Is it those really heavy bits and that belt that saps engine power? If you want to make the car cooler, turn those crank shaped things on the door panel
I live in Dubai and have the aircon set at 22C. Seems to be cool enough for me. Outside temperatures are running at 38C at the moment !!
Agree with Seagull...Aircon just saps power from the engine...however for 8 months of the year it has to be switched on where I live!!!
I had my a/c regassed after getting new condensers and the difference is night and day. Heaps better.... my condensers had two small holes evident by "wet" oily patches on the condensers. I hadn't lost all the gas but must have lost a little....
JZM did mine...
Lo is definitely lower than 17 ish. As per the comment above low is seriously nippy (and I'm Northern so it's not any of this namby pamby southern "cold" I tell ya
) so I reckon you need a regas / new condensers as per t'other comments.
If that fails, I recommend the spirited drive with the windows down method.....
I prefer to use the electric windows myself
And doesnt driving with windows down hugely increase your drag and thereby reduce acceleration and top speed?
Thanks guys, I bought the Porsche warranty so you reckon this will cover a regas? And any idea of the cost if it doesnt?
Cheers
Please tell us that AC Button - to the left of the Temp Controls (Snowflake Motif) is pressed and operative  otherwise the 18deg/Low will certainly not be cool enough in mid-high temps.
