Perhaps a first for Porsche? First scheduled maintenance at 10,000 miles or 1 year is now included with a 2018 911. Image below copied from configuration list of standard equipment.
991.2 and 718 early adopters got screwed
Looks like its in all models.
Have the 718 buyers mentioned this? I understand the other models not being discussed but you would think the 718 buyers would mention it.
My dealer comp'ed me for the year one service... maybe because this was my second Cayman from the dealer, or???
Ha! You are right. I just looked it up on the web site. I have not seen this mentioned on the 718 forums. The configurator was updated about 3 weeks ago with 2018 pricing (at least for 991.2 and probably 718s as well). They added this new complimentary first scheduled maintenance with the update.
so.... one free oil change? meh.
Oh.....it's more than just one free oil change. They have to check 100+ inspection points. lol.
Seriously, I get your point. They raised the base price of my 911 by $1700 with inflation at 2% even with the currency exchange rate much more favorable to US buyers. They can get away with it because guys like me will still buy the car.
I will take the free oil change though.
Wow what an incentive. Porsche will give me a $250 oil change if I buy a $110K+ 911. I'm going to run down to a Porsche dealer right now
Bimmer has been offering a 4-year / 80k km no-charge scheduled maintenance on all of their new cars for a while now. I guess Porsche doesn't care what the others are doing at all?
Frankly, I'm surprised they are even offering this free oil change. They aren't going to win over any new 911 buyers with this measly offering. Those that are shopping for one will buy one regardless.
I guess its their way of throwing a bone to their loyal customers as well, since each of their employees got a
€
9,111 bonus from the record sales they did last year.
Oil change for a 911 at my local dealer is 450 bucks. I will be happy to pay 250.
I wouldn't be surprised that a whole bunch of new 911 and Cayman/Boxster owners who put minimal miles on their cars don't follow a "time not miles" maintenance schedule. Making the first yearly service "free" reinforces that they should be doing service based on time, and gets owners locked into a pattern that increases traffic in parts and service, as well as on the sales side. If the dealer doesn't see owners, it's harder to sell them additional stuff.
It is all about the Macans as chows says. My sales associate doesn't even update or reply to my email queries about my C4S build and prospective delivery date. They sell one 911 per month. OTOH, they sell a bunch of Macans. Seriously, if I didn't like the 911 so much, I would just cancel my order and buy something else. At the prices they charge, they could be more proactive and keep in touch with me but no. Nobody cares. They just want to sell you a car and a bunch of crap warranties on wheels, protective films etc. It is quite a sad experience. When I bought my Boxster, the buying expereince was quite pathetic. If I didn't know what I wanted, I wouldn't have bothered with Porsche. The sales guys are either too stupid or indifferent. I think the latter.
It's amazing how the sales guys have changed over the years. When I purchased my first Porsche in 1970, sales guys as well as techs were all enthusiasts. Many of them spent their weekends at tracks racing their Porsches. Today I still see some serious enthusiasts in the sales department, but many seem to be just guys trying to push cars.
