Had a play with it again today, and using her key I can even unlock the car using the door lock and turn the ignition on without the alarm going off, but it still won't fire the engine.

As I understand it though, if that was the case, when I unlocked the car using her key and tried to start it, the alarm would sound.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi. Just a quick question before I go down the OPC route on this one. I tried to shift the car yesterday using the second key for it, which is on my other half's keyring. The car opened fine, the seat and mirrors motored to her position as normal, and all the warning lights came on when I turned it in the ignition, but then nothing; the car wouldn't fire. Then tried it with my key and the car starts normally. Had a play with it again today, and using her key I can even unlock the car using the door lock and turn the ignition on without the alarm going off, but it still won't fire the engine. The only thing I can think is that I had a wallet (emergency) key coded at my service last month by the OPC, and they've somehow deleted my other half's key from the immobilser list of recognised keys. As I understand it though, if that was the case, when I unlocked the car using her key and tried to start it, the alarm would sound. Anyone got any ideas, as I've got a feeling this is going to be yet another item that's not covered by the warranty! Thanks.
