Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, On the way home this evening I noticed (well heard) that the front end of my car was more noisy than usual. The noise is quite hard to describe, but it sounds like a slight crash or rattle from the front end, every time I go over a bump. It almost sounds as though something is lose under the car (there isn't though, I've checked). Now the roads around me here are really badly maintained by the council, but I'm sure it didn't rattle like this before. So, I'm wondering, does anyone have any idea what this noise might be (maybe it's the really hot weather today that's caused the noise) and whether it might or might not be covered under warranty. It's a Targa (so C2), so I'm suspecting some part of the suspension. If I bounce the car up and down when stationary it makes a slight squeek from the suspension, but certainly no rattle or crash. It only happens when it goes over a bump. Cheers, GD PS The noise seems more pronounced when going up hill at very low speeds (ie. less than 10mph), but this could be because the engine is noisy!! I can also hear it with the window open and the roof open, but the noise seems to come from the front of the car and is more audible from inside the cabin (rather than leaning out of the window and trying to listen).

POST 2Original post

anti-roll bar bushings maybe? My rears made a knocking type sound before i replaced them, not always reproducible but there nonetheless... easy fix if it is those though. 10 mins per side replacement. undo, replace, tighten up...

POST 3Original post

Space saver wheel and jack may have come loose

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

> Space saver wheel and jack may have come loose Thanks for the replies. That's exactly what the noise sounds like and I completely emptied the bonnet to discount that.

POST 5Original post

I dont think its the same thing but have a "squeak" from the front end each time i go over a bump in the road, sounds like suspension or rubber movement... nothing like a crash or rattle though.... has anything come loose, have you checked inside front grills?

POST 6Original post

I had a rattle coming from the front end of mine about a month ago. Took it to an indy but could not get it to do it again, drove over speed bumps, kerbs [gently of course] but the noise gone. They said it was possible a small stone had got lodged somewhere in the suspension and had caused the rattle. Have had the car serviced and the geo done and nothing has come to light :? TB
