I'll remap to make use of all the engine mods properly and then maybe replace the suspension to a complete coilover kit, think that can wait though.

I got round this by having long arms and using a spanner on the top nut :thumb:
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Installed the RS motor mounts today, replacing the stock mounts (993 part number :? ) with RS hard rubber mounts. The hard rubber motor mounts reduce the flex of the drivetrain and provide firmer feedback from the engine and transmission. They have less rubber than stock but still enough to reduce most of the noise and the vibration.
I followed this install from p-car

It's for a 993 but shows you the steps to follow.
A few tips from me are make sure you have a long enough socket extension as the underside nuts are tricky to reach. Also, the socket itself needs to be fairly deep as the bolt screws through the nut quite far. (I got around this by using the wheel nut socket found in the Porsche tool kit 8) ) You will have to remove the airbox and emission pump to gain access to the mounts. The instructions call for 2 people at one stage, one to hold the top nut as you tighten and torque the lower one. I got round this by having long arms and using a spanner on the top nut :thumb:
Ok, pics.

Comparing the single piece stock mount with the RS parts (1 side only)
I haven't really had a chance for a proper drive yet but started her up and there is slightly more vibration throughout the cabin but only marginal. Can't wait for a long drive tomorrow
Stuart,
Very nice! I was searching for over a week and could not find a 996 installed a RS mount. The OEM mounts on my car were done. The tail pipes dropped about an 1". I took the chance and just placed an order for the RS mount for my 03 C4S and wonder if it will work. And also concern what other hardwares I need to make it works as my next track day is May 21st.
By any chance, do you know the part # for the RS mount? Is it 964-375-043-81?
From your pictures, the height for the RS mount is shorter than the OEM mount. Do you need to put extra washers on the bottom side of the mount to make up the height? If so, how many?
What lenght is the center bolt? Did you use 900-082-030-02?
Your help is greatly appreciated!

Hi MTB, It's definetly a 964 part number but couldn't tell you exactly without looking right now. They're slightly modified from the original 964 part with longer bolts IIRC. The mount height is shorter and it comes as a kit (2x washers, 2xcopper colour plates, 1 longer bolt and nut, 1 motor mount
per side
) Each part came in Porsche part numbered bags but unfortunately I've chucked them.
Mark, Thanks, once again I used yours as that added inspiration :thumb:
There's not much more I can really do without spending alot. I'll remap to make use of all the engine mods properly and then maybe replace the suspension to a complete coilover kit, think that can wait though. The most important thing now is some Sean Edwards instruction, that's really my focus now. Learn how to drive her properly
