Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am not sure I have the answer but I had to replace the rads on my tt last month and I was surprised how much muck and debris had built up in front of them.

So clearing the rads out while a worthwhile job I don't think it will make the car run much cooler.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Chaps,
I've noticed recently as the weather is getting warmer (was indicating 22 today
) that after a bit of 'spirited' driving or after a while in slow traffic that my cars temperature gradually rises to say 90-95 (but no higher) at which point the front fans have cut in (at around 90 it seems) as I assume they should. The thing is that once my car has reached said temperature it tends to remain regardless of if I slow things down so of course the fans stay on until I turn the car off.
I should add that if I'm simply starting and driving from cold; A to B at modest pace the car tends to sit at the more normal 85-ish.
Does anyone else experience this? or has experienced similar? I'm not overly concerned (all fluids consistent and correct etc) but do you think it's something I should chat to my Indy about? I wondered if my rads my be due for a change?
Thanks for any Comments :thumb:
I am not sure I have the answer but I had to replace the rads on my tt last month and I was surprised how much muck and debris had built up in front of them. To make matters worse the air con condensors are mounted in front of the side radiators trapping the debris and reducing the air flow.
With leafs and rubbish etc on the road over the winter it may well be you have a similar built up which could be reducing the air flow...
Just my thoughts....
Hi, I spent a couple of hours yesterday clearing out the leaves from the rads - something I had been meaning to do for ages.
From what I observed I don't think the collection of leaves is going to effect the flow through the rads very much.
As the rubbish seems to collect at the very back of the rads
What it does do though by keeping a mulch at the back (and there really is no where for it to go (and I doubt compressed air or a leave blower can get it out) is create a environment which will corrode the rads eventually.
So clearing the rads out while a worthwhile job I don't think it will make the car run much cooler.
Thanks for your thoughts gents.
For Info should anyone see their water temps rise in the warmer weather etc; my Indy says nothing to worry about so long as the temp gauge needle stays within the first 3/4 of the gauge. The fans are variable speed and just getting on with their job of cooling an engine which due to its placement (not unsurprisingly) requires a lot of cooling, their staying on for prolonged periods isn't a problem, just the nature of the beast.
On the way home along the motorway 65/70mph I had the red flashing warning light come on yet the temp was stable at 85-90.
Everything else looked OK, so drove home looked for leaks etc found nothing. Restarted the engine and no warning light. :?
outside temp was about 22 degrees.

This is common, I had Scott pop into my post the other week and I (lightly) put the jet wash into the bumper and the amount of rubbish that come out ! -
I will be cleaning mine out before the 'Ring tip this weekend !

will check again when engine cold but looked OK after I stopped,
