Suggestion

Check the options under the bonnet to see if the owner bought it on the car...it's possible it was faulty, so they just removed it (they aren't the most reliable of units...mine is also playing up).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I've just purchased a 996 Targa on an 02 plate and it has the CDR 32 -uprated stereo. Question is should this car have a CD changer by default? There seems to be 2 leads and an obvious gap where the CD changer should be. Cheers Mark

POST 2Original post

Hi, No it's was a 400quid optional extra. Check the options under the bonnet to see if the owner bought it on the car...it's possible it was faulty, so they just removed it (they aren't the most reliable of units...mine is also playing up). If you want to replace it, you need to order a CDC-4 changer, which will fit straight in. You can also buy an equivalent Becker, that is identical except a) it doesn't say Porsche on the front, b) it's about 200quid cheaper Cheers, GD

POST 3Original post

Do you know the part number for the Becker? Is this a non MOST bus unit?

POST 4Original post

Anyone got the part number for the Becker Unit? I am assuming my 2001 car with PCM1 will have the same CDC4 changer?

POST 5Original post

ipod ! dont bother i have one factory fitted - i never use it get an ipod nano, charge from the lighter and a minoi fm transmitter works a treat

POST 6Original post

I don't know the part numbers, but I'm 99% sure that the PCM1 has a CDC-3, not CDC-4. CDC-4 is connected via fibre optic, CDC-3 is copper.
