Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Regardless - their loss...I'll contact the next closest dealer about an order...or maybe look for a LIGHTY used '09...but Niello won't be getting a second (and possibly third as I NEED to replace my SUV) sale from me after this.
Leading evidence: 'Replace suv) sale' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace suv) sale' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Greetings -
Currently in a 2007 Cayman S, but have always wanted a 911 convertible (like since I was a teenager in the 80's). Finally have the ability to purchase a new 911 and found a good deal on a 2010 (new) still on a dealers lot. So the question is, do I snap up the 2010, or wait since I recently heard there was an update coming for the 2012's. If the update isn't worth it, would ya grab the 2010 with "most" features you'd order, or make a build sheet and wait?
Thanx
If you can afford to pay close to MSRP for a remodeled version, I would wait... but you have to go with what suits YOU. I had no money when I was younger and a Porsche was something that I always ventured for. So when I could afford it, I just bought it, without caring about any remodels, but I bought mine about 8 months ago. It's sort of like that Porsche commercial where the kid takes the sales reps card at the end and states, "see you in about 20 years."
I'd wait if i were you, or purchase a used 911 cab to tie you over. 2012 is supposed to be a full redesign and well, there is a lot of fun in being the only guy in town with a certain car
That's what I was thinking as well....nice to have a unique car, and I'd hate to miss out on a major redesign. Maybe I'll take this opportunity to pick up a nice X5 M or Cayenne Turbo to get me by until the 2012's are available. My Cayman S is a nice car in and of itself - I just really want/miss a ragtop.
Thanx for the input.
Edit/Update: Local club members/other enthusiasts have been messaging me to remind me that the first year of a major model change is NEVER a good bet for reliability. Something to consider, I suppose.
By all accounts the new 911 (991) will be longer in wheelbase by 4 inches. This will make the car even larger than it is now, at least in comparison w/ the air cooled 911s of yesteryear. HP figures being quoted are 350 and 400 for the base and the S, the S most likely becoming a 4.0L version of the current 3.8L. Styling will be evolutionary and not revolutionary, it is a 911 right? Most likely the car will be introduced at the Frankfurt auto show 9/2011. European deliveries will begin 11/11 and US deliveries follow Jan/Feb 2012. Some reports have stated that the Cab and AWD variants will not be available initially. The interior is reported/speculated to be along the lines of the Panamera, very high tech. Several reports state that aluminum and composites will be used to lighten the car. I dobut the technology of the 991 will be so radical (as it was from 993 to 996) that reliability of the engine/drivetrain will be a major issue. IMHO the current 997.2 represents a major accomplishment for Porsche. Its styling is clearly linked and integrated w/ the 911 family in a manner that the 996 was not w/ engineering and performance befitting the Porsche marque. There isn't a wrong choice, but you will have to wait and see what materializes for the 991.
I guess I was making this way too hard. In reality, I've never been big on purchasing a new model in the first year they are released....always some minor (hopefully not major) issues with them, and I live 3 hours away from my dealership. So I'm going through the build sheet options and will let the dealer do a locate or build a new 2011 (last year of a series run is usually the best IMHO).
Trying to get my wife to agree to keep the Cayman too...might be easier if I let her drive it every so often
Will post pictures.
Turns out the car I wanted was placed "In Service" for a demo day late April - so the ticket has been punched as far as warranty is concerned. The dealer states the car has 160 miles - with most being from being driven to/from a show. I have requested the over rev report and any other CEL/error messages, but have not gotten a response yet.
Will keep you posted....
UPDATE: After 2 e-mail messages and a weeks time, I have all but given up on the 2010 I was considering. Kinda bums me out - I REALLY wanted a rag top, and I have not found another with the same specs/build within Calif/NV/AZ. I'm guessing either:
(1) there was something on the Over Rev report that the dealer didn't want to disclose, or
(2) the dealer just didn't need the sale that bad, given the popularity of the new Cayenne, or
(3) I wasn't taken seriously due to the large number of messages I sent without buying yet.
Regardless - their loss...I'll contact the next closest dealer about an order...or maybe look for a LIGHTY used '09...but Niello won't be getting a second (and possibly third as I NEED to replace my SUV) sale from me after this.
Hmmm.... a guy with a C2S with Sport Chrono and Sport Exhaust, Bose and Nav with no regrets.......
I know EXACTLY what you mean, brother!:banana::banana::cheers:
(Nothing like punchin' that Sport button and takin' off, eh?:dance
But to the OP - listen to DaveC - he's dead right about everything he said, including the fact that there's no wrong choices here.
While I agree it might be this, I have a problem repeatedly calling/emailing about a car I want to purchase...do I have to beg the dealership to take my $100k? Yes, maybe I'm being pissy, but again - it's a lot of money to get ZERO response to a rather basic question (which the dealer said was easy to get and would be right back to me with the info).
Dealer called yesterday rather apologetic....seems a new website and server has caused numerous "undeliverable" e-mails and some bouncing days after they were sent (and no error message). Many irritated return customers and loss of potential sales that have them scrambling to contact everyone and smooth things over. Anyway, ended up getting all information I needed to make the drive and purchase the 2010 C2S
Also got caught looking at the new Cayenne's and was made a deal I couldn't refuse (nor disclose), and ended up with 2 new white P-cars ....pix of my 2011 CT and 2010 C2S will follow shortly (C2S is being delivered later this week after it gets the clear bra - drove the CT home).
Life is good.....
Quick picture - more to come this weekend...
