So I've got a list of QOL improvements I'd like to design and test but I'd be interested to hear what you guys might like.

1qt oil bottle and 1qt coolant holder (I currently use the Velcro bags, but something described goes just for the frunk that’s not Velcro would be nice) I have some ideas on mounting points.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Recently I purchased a prosumer grade 3D printer called Babu Labs X1 Carbon. This thing is legit! So now I obviously have to integrate it into my shop and channel. So I've got a list of QOL improvements I'd like to design and test but I'd be interested to hear what you guys might like. Here are some ideas: USBC adapters Dashcam/backup camera integration Radar detector integration What's on your list?

POST 3Original post

Affordable strengthened headlight washer covers. Affordable rear seat delete covers. Replacement parts for over engineered cup holder 1qt oil bottle and 1qt coolant holder (I currently use the Velcro bags, but something described goes just for the frunk that’s not Velcro would be nice) I have some ideas on mounting points. I‘ll post more soon. I have a few more ideas.

A real phone holder that doesn’t rip out vents or need to be glued to the dash

Yaz has made the best phone mount ever !! Have you seen his ??

POST 8Original post

Definitely these, a very well considered list 😁

Someone in the UK had made a Magsafe compatible cubby. Bascially, the magsafe clicpped into the cubby and sat flush, Then you just throw your phone in the cubby and it snaps into place and recharges at the same time.

Yeah, us non-city non-coastal folks would like that little addition. Make one for a Desert Eagle .357?

Yes, I have one. They are great.

Can you share a link or a photo? This would be awesome For "Quality of Life" upgrades, as much noise silencing as possible. My dash area (and a lot of the other seats/cabin pieces) squeak / creak constantly. It does go away with more driving thankfully. The constant creaks and road noise bug the **** out of me. I dont think there is anything that can be done with a 3d printer though! Edit: Is this it? I found the other thread just couldnt get the quote link to work yet.

POST 14Original post

Let me know if you want the dims for the rear seat delete covers.

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 19949086

yes. That is mine. Works great.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

These are all GREAT and thank you. So here's my take. Phone holder: Yaz has a gerat one and I use it in both of my cars. I can't really modify perfection. Cup Holder: Now this is an intertswting one as I'm actually designing a repalcement cover. The mechanism itself is pretty sturdy (I've proven that with 2 LARGE Whataburger drinks recently). So a cover re-design is possible but a long term goal. Rear seat delete parts: YES this! I need more information on this @TexSquirrel Center console wireless charger: This right here is a good "low hanging fruit design" I'm also thinking of incorporating USB-C ports too and hard-wire them. @TheChunkNorris give me more detail on those. I've got the caps for the Cabriolet ports but I'm unfamiliar with the threaded one. Let's keep these ideas going! Turbos too!

Love this! Can't wait to see your take on the center console wireless charger.

POST 18Original post

The two caps for the lock down holes for the hard top on the convertible, in Metropol Blue for me, but other colors as needed. Hard to find and at $45 each, ridiculously expensive. The center console MagSafe charger sounds interesting.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They're $45 dollars?! Holy crap. I have that slice file. Let me see what it looks like. I'll PM you if it's worth mentioning.

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 19966115

Thanks ! Here is the part number - Porsche - 996-555-457-00-G10 Last time I bought them they were $45, now they are "on sale" for $65. I'm sure folks could easy see picking up a spare or two for $20 something.

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, I've opened up the store! Check it out !

POST 22Original post

I would like parts to fix the existing cup holder. I remember seeing someone printed some parts a few years ago, but I don't know if that person is still around or how to get them.

POST 23Original post

Lemme know when the rear seat delete kit becomes available please.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 19966710

So which part is broken exactly? It breaks in a couple of ways. I'm working on a faceplate but it's not really working out so far. Sometimes, things just need to be injection molded to look good. I might pivot and design a full replacement. But that is above my CAD skills at the moment. I can print the cupholder design that's has a creative commons license that attaches to the side of the center console. I didn't really like that it requires you to drill into the leather/vinyl side. So a replacement panel will need to be designed. I love this 💩

POST 25Original post

What about an ashtray insert replacement eight 2 USB connections. Then those of us with aftermarket radios with two USB connections could make them at the ashtray instead of having wires running from devices into the center console I bet there are not many smokers left in the 996 crowd.

POST 26Original post

Quotes source post: 19953930

Im in AZ until tomorrow, should be getting the measurements this week.

POST 27Original post

I was going to suggest a GT3 style console delete because the Porsche one is now almost $1k and Rennline is almost $600 but I see what looks like a 3D printed one on ebay for $300. Still, another option at a good price wouldn't hurt.

POST 28Original post

I just had my windshield tinted and the shop strongly discouraged me from sticking my dashcam into the windshield. I'd be all in for a dashcam mount that would attach to the back of the rear view mirror and something for the rear camera as well.

On the bigger holder, the plastic springy piece.

DAYM! They must have tried to fit a Big Gulp in there. I put two LARGE Whataburger drinks w/o issue. This is item number 241 to fail on the cup holder. 🤣 So i've got a fellow owner that is going to help me design a bumper aero mod to direct slightly more air into the 996.1 gen front radiators. GT3 CC delete (high priority) Cup holder (already a creative commons license out there for one. I need to redesign the mounting to be less invasive) USB-C console mod to an open DIN. This is GREAT! Keep them coming. Oh and I'm adding more stuff every day. More decorative now to help fund these projects. yogisgaragetx.com

@ Yogibara are you going to make these? I'll hold off on buying one from the UK if so. Cheers!

are you referring to the mag charger. Yes, I plant to but shipping to UK might be a deal breaker.

The UK would be a little far for me as well. If you can make one by mid-July, I'll come pick it up.
