Thank goodness I have a Durametric diagnostic system analyzer thingy but my fabulous Windows computer that gets used once in a blue moon and then promptly acts up decided to act up so I could not use this to test or fix the problem and since I live in the Boonies I have to wait till either that laptop gets fixed or I decide to put Windows on my Mac Book, I'd hate to do that but I may have to.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello Ed. the "problem" was created when you turned the ignition on with the airbag disconnected. you just need to clear the code. there are few options for that. 1. go to the stillership. 2. get a durametric Porsche Boxster (1997-2004) - Engine Tools - Page 1 cable (the right thing to do if you have an intention to keep the car and work on it yourself). 3. find a generic scanner that can clear airbag codes. this one could be an option https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BHYBPLG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=368NGP8BBWCW0&coliid=I3UTA5FDRBPB41&psc=1 i havent used it myself (i have a durametric), but somone on another from stated he was able to clear the airbag foult code with it.

Thanks so much Meirschwartz, I thought that might be a possibility but I had no way to verify..... Thank you so much for your input I will let you know here how it ends up! I have the car up for sale and the buyer is supposed to pick it up this weekend hope I can fix it before then??? Best regards, Ed

POST 4Original post

Unfortunately, the airbag system in these cars is part of what Porsche set as "proprietary" diagnostics, and that requires a PST II, PIWIS, or Durametric system. Several other aftermarket OBD II scanners claim they can do it, but most actually cannot, so don't spend any money before you can confirm another tool will do it.

Hi Ed. ask the customer to come with his laptop you might even be able to sale him the cable after you show him how it works.
