Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The oil guage on my 2002 car seems to be sitting a 0 all the time now? Just wondering if this is a faulty sensor or something more? Anyone else ever experience this?

POST 2Original post

if no tinkley noises from behind you then imagine it's just sensor or gauge. not worth assuming though get her checked out quickly, you want to know what this one's doing

POST 3Original post

POST 4Original post

Worth getting it checked out next time you're close to a specialist / OPC, but surely you could you the old fashioned dip stick way in the mean time??

POST 5Original post

When you say oil gauge, do you mean the electronic gauge that indicates how much oil you have/don't have or the oil pressure gauge that shows err oil pressure. Some of you have mentioned the old fashioned dipstick method so it may come as a bit of a surprise to learn that some 996's do not have a dipstick. For example the 996 turbo doesn't and you have to rely on the electronic gauge.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the replys! Its the oil pressure guage that's not moving. My car does have a dip stck and the oil level seems ok, so I'm thinking this could be a sensor. Any idea where the sensor is so I can check to see if its connected ok or possible a broken wire etc.

POST 7Original post

now that's a very good point No dipstick! Damn - that'll be me told then!

POST 8Original post

I won't say how long I searched in the engine bay looking for one when I first got the car
