New to the car and my dashboard is completely dark at night. How can I bring up the brightness?
There is a dial knob on the left side of the mph dial in the instrument cluster with a light blub in the middle of it. turn the knob to the desired brightness and do it at night as its not bright enough to tell in daylight.
This pic shows the location of the knob that controls the instrument illumination. If that doesn’t do it, there may be a problem with the cluster.
I think you got the answer you were seeking in the posts above. Clockwise is brighter BTW.

Thank you all. Still didn't work so perhaps I have a fuse problem.
Yes, I would suggest you check all the fuses, especially trying to locate the fuse which controls the illumination of the instrument panel. If all the fuses appear functional, you may need to remove the instrument cluster and using a
multimeter
/voltage tester see if there is power being sent to the connector via the corresponding pin for the illumination. I have had my instrument cluster out several times and it not a difficult job providing you are comfortable with that sort of work. Although in this age of
ECU
’s and BCM’s the control of the lighting may not be directly from the fuse, through the dimmer knob and to the cluster lighting. It is possible that it is routed through one of the body control modules, which may complicate troubleshooting. You may need to have a scan tool determine its functionality. If you have an indie mechanic it’s possible he can troubleshoot it. I have used Speedometer Solutions for a previous repair on my cluster if you reach a dead end. Google that and you will come across his website. He does repairs and sells replacement instrument clusters. Keep us posted.
