Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

On my 4S before I fitted the switch I used to run it loud, definitely felt faster until I had an ear infection, suddenly the car was slow again.
Leading evidence: 'Install switch i used' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install switch i used' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

For my own part, I've noticed no difference at all to drive in either power or fuel economy.
RE: Performace / BHP Gains - 996 OPC Sports Exhaust?
Hi All,
Im new to the site so sorry if this has been covered recently or in the past! I recently bought a 996 C2 with the Switchable PSE fitted. I love this extra and was wondering do you know if the extra breathing would improve power on the standard 320bhp 3.6ltr engine ?
Some friends have suggested a possible rise of 10bhp over the stock system but I would be interested in your views.
Thanks
2003 996 C2
According to reports all it does is sound glorious, therefore all you want to do is put your foot down harder, therefore making you go faster, therefore giving your butt dyno a higher reading...
There was a post on PCGB forum from some guy who dyno'd his car with a PSE and found it produced less power than standard, particularly in 'quiet' mode.
For my own part, I've noticed no difference at all to drive in either power or fuel economy.
But the main thing is it does sound utterly fab which is worth at least 30bhp! 8)
Sounds like BS to me, the PSE in 'quiet' is just the same as the standard exhaust, open it might, just might bring a few BHP gains but not something to write home about.
On my 4S before I fitted the switch I used to run it loud, definitely felt faster until I had an ear infection, suddenly the car was slow again. Explain that!
Phew! I was worried that as you get older your hearing is proportional to the speed of your car. This assumption was almost right until your valuable insight Dave proved it to be erroneous! My initial thoughts were based on Sundeep being deaf
On my 997S the PSE is not supposed to provide any increase in BHP according to Porsche. Some have said that you get a few more BHP but I don't believe this to be true. Having said this with the X51 kit you get the PSE as well so it "might" help with gas flow and assist the engine in producing more power if used in conjunction with other power upgrades...
