If you just replace the stereo, then you will find that the alarm pips at you every time you arm the system.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all As above - I am removing the CDR 22 - due to the fact that it isnt very good. Once gone, I am replacing with an Alpine unit. My car has the bose 10 speaker system in it (pre- MOST) Has anyone done this? If so, which adaptor lead did you use, as the one that was offered to me looked totally wrong! I am looking for a lead that will take the pre-outs on the back of the Alpine (the phono jacks) and convert to the socket that goes to the amp. Help! JJ

POST 2Original post

dont bother with a CD - get one with an ipod attachment which charges and send music

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi matey - exactly what I did. For the record, I went for the X001 - a top unit, which I would recommend! Have sussed the other issue. For those that may choose to do this, the following is what I have learnt: 1. The BOSE amp simply amplifies the signal coming out from the speaker output from the CDR22. As such, any unit with a standardised four speaker output is compatible. you only need the cable to switch the amp on! 2. The alarm system on the car has a pickup for the head unit. This is quite clever, and important. If you just replace the stereo, then you will find that the alarm pips at you every time you arm the system. This can be easily overcome. The original system has a small non-metallic pad that the metal pickup sits on (found on the left side of the radio). Before installing the cage for your new stereo, place a bit of insulation tape on the side of the new cage that aligns with this sensor (or alternatively put a bit of tape on the pickup itself). that will resolve the alarm issue. Hope the above helps others that may choose to DIY it! JJ
