Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So my oil cooler let go....filled the cooling system with oil. It was caught quickly and the car was shut down without overheating. The cooler is changed, all rubber hoses changed, new rads etc etc.... car has been flushed over and over again yet we are still getting significant amounts of oil into the reservoir. When diagnosing the problem originally we checked for head gaskets, cracked heads etc and everything was good. Not sure where the oil could be coming from, any ideas?

POST 2Original post

I guess I would check to make sure the new oil cooler isn't leaking if you have conclusively ruled out the heads and head gaskets.

POST 3Original post

from another thread, pretty much a carbon copy of what you're saying... http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/29656-coolant-supposed-thick-gold.html

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And now on further inspection the mechanic feels that I have either a cracked head or headgasket going..... It may be time to bite the bullet and build a 3.6

POST 5Original post

I would check the new oil cooler. They sometimes leak. It happened to me. Don't let the mechanic scam u with a blown gasket if u dont need it.
