Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Here's my 07' black/black 5 speed. I painted the calipers Yellow and added these Varro 19"s. I think I'd like to just lower the car with H& R Springs and put the stock wheels back on. Since the picture with the stock wheels I did add the smoked taillights and side marker, and the LED fog lights. Shameless plug with the TR, but also an aesthetic comparison of 16" vs 19" wheels. I don't know if I should try to lower onto the 19"s or just sell them and go back to stock or Turbo Twists... Thoughts? Tho

POST 3Original post

Standard wheels also here. My wife died her hair once, was fun to try something different but didn't work. She was fine stock. : )

POST 4Original post

The most fun you can have with the 987 wheel setup is when you get as small of a (lightweight) wheel that will clear your calipers. 18" is definitely the move, better cushioning and less unsprung mass, which helps the car's handling and driving feel. I had 19" lobsterclaws from factory and it's a night and day difference between those and my 18". I hear rumours, but cannot confirm myself, that 17" wheels will clear the 987.1 S calipers. I know they do on the 987.1 base. I am using TechArt lowering springs (more aggressive than the H&R or Cayman R springs ), and the car scrapes more on the 19" 35AR setup than my 18" 40AR setup. My $0.02 is to run the stock (or aftermarket) 18" wheels with the H& R springs as you will have less front clearance issues. (I hope the image is resized and cropped to Don's liking )

POST 5Original post

I'm another fan of the stock 18" 5-spokers. I think they look great on the 987.

POST 6Original post

That looks like it settles it! Lowering seems to achieve the look I'm after. Just ordered a CircuitWerks V2 as well so I've got some fun projects once the weather warms back up.

POST 8Original post

Schell, that looks amazing! That is exactly what I'm looking for. Oddly the 19"s I put on almost made the car look like "jacked up" like it was ready for off-road

POST 9Original post

View attachment 297712 [/QUOTE] Hey - I just got Apex wheels SM-10RS 18x9, 18x10. Don't have the tires yet. Are you running stock sizes 235 / 265 or go with their recommended 245 / 275?

POST 11Original post

I did the 245/40 18 and 275/40/18 , I do a lot of track events so I have just enough room to go 255 in the front with 3.5 negative camber, if I go with a 255/35/18 and 285/35/18 I will be about 5mm shorter than stock, with current set up 245/40/18 275/40/18 about 5mm taller than stock, my speedometer is currently correct , no longer off by 2mph.

POST 12Original post

For my street tires on a 17 inch wheel did a all season Conti DSW Tire size 215/50/17. 255/45/17. they are very close to exact size, I think wheels are 7 front and 8.5 rear, I use these on track in the rain lots of grip. This photo is before coil overs and suspension work.

POST 13Original post

How much are you rubbing with the 245/40? I am on the same width and AR but had to get my fender rolled for clearance. I am waiting to snag some camber plates from Tarrett to put on my new coilovers - is that how you achieved -3.5? I am maxxed out at -2.1 on stock LCAs and lowering springs.

POST 14Original post

I went from 19 inch lobsters down to the 18 inch Porsche exclusive wheels. Much better looking and riding.

POST 15Original post

I have these 17 inch wheels with no spacers, they fit with no issues on 987.2 S, they where purchased from tire rack. Sport Edition Cup 4

POST 16Original post

Less wheel and less grip = less snoozefest. And so should you.

POST 17Original post

Gee, after reading this I need to wear out the tires on my 19” Lobsters and get some new 18” wheels and tires .

POST 18Original post

If you're after aesthetics, the 19" lobsterclaws on a slammed 987 are an unbeatable look. I love the way my 987 looks on both the stock lobsterclaws and my E88s.

POST 19Original post

Went with the 18” Apex SM-10 (9” front, 10” rear) and the Apex recommended tire sizes 245 front, 275 rear on the stock 987.2 2.9L suspension

POST 20Original post

Photo pretty well sums it up, red gal there with the perfect Fibonacci ratio of wheel circumference to tire circumference. 50.24 inches by 1.618033.. for your golden 81.3 inch tire circumference. As our creator intended. Then you have the blasphemous modern rubber band tire ratio. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_ratio

POST 21Original post

That is what mine looked like before coil-overs, I love the coil-overs on track for me its great, I don't drive much on the street but if I did I would want stock feel back.

POST 22Original post

I'm probably the minority, but I like the 19s better. I have a 2012 S Black Edition with an R wing and 19" Spyder wheels and I like them. Black on black. Your smoke lens covers and muted 19" wheels make it feel more updated. I never loved the tail lights on the 987.1 . Nice Ferrari, is that yours? I was looking at 308s for a while.

POST 23Original post

I'm probably in an even smaller minority, but I prefer the stock big donut tires on 17" wheels.

POST 24Original post

Per Apex.....Titan 7s, 18x9, 18x10, 245/275 with 5mm spacer in rear. Will go with a 285 in rear next time.
