Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any ideas on why the PCM screen is dull? I can hardly see anything on it in daylight. I have had the car (2002 - 02) a couple of weeks and it is now bugging me! Thanks

POST 2Original post

Hi, The PCM1 has 3 setting for display as followsing with the different functions. Auto - when the headlights are on, it turns into night mode and dims (assumes its dark outside) Day - Bight Screen Night - Dimmer screen I have also noticed that the screen also adjusts a little according to how much light there is in the car to further enhance the Auto settings. You will see a little white 'blob' which is the senor at the top of the pcm unit. Putting my finger over it brightens up the screen. Question..... ? Can you see it see the screen OK at night? If you, you either have it in 'night mode' or is faulty. Switch it to Day or Auto. If you cant see it at night then the Contrast settings may be off. Try adjusting the contrast. Failing that then there is sadly a fault which ISNT covered by a Porsche warranty. Good luck, Rob
