Help please.
It took one of my kids to notice this trim piece chipped up. Lol. I never noticed it.
Anyway… Both sides need replacing.
Problem is, I can’t find it and have no idea what to call it.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thank you!!!
Well, unfortunately, it won't have a name but it will have a long
Porsche
part number. Do you know about the PET? Check out this link:

Once you get the PET diagrams in front of you, you can match up the piece to the diagram and then cross reference the part number. But- parts that have color may come in pre-colored or maybe only in black or maybe not at all. A Porsche parts counter guy can work you through this.
I would really recommend you consider painting the part to restore it back to a decent, if not perfect, look. If you look around your car, you will find a lot of tan chipped to black pieces, I can assure you.

Good luck!
I have a copy of the PET and spent a while searching while comparing to my
2007 Cayman S
. Found it! It's the "smuggler's box" assembly; in the PET they call it a "shelf".
The left one has the part number 987.555.071.05 with a color code of 5Z1 for Sand Beige.
The right one has the part number 987.555.072.05 with the same color code.
These are likely to be expensive. I might suggest going the painting route as
@harveyf
recommended above. After all, there's probably nothing structurally wrong with those pieces, it's just the finish that has been damaged.
Apologies, I should have specified that it’s for a
Boxster
.
I think I found 98755660400 to be what I’m looking for, but will confirm Monday when I swing by a dealership.
Thanks!
Just a few comments.. there are likely to be different part numbers for left and right side - It appears in your photo you're replacing the left side. The PN you have is for the right side.
As others commented - painting the existing trim is done quite frequently with the light tan interior. ALL of them seem to experience damage, and the contrast between the tan trim and the black plastic body of the trim makes it really noticeable. A number of people have taken a sample piece of trim to Home Depot, and had them color match it, then make up a small "test" can of the paint. With a little prep and some skill with a brush the results can be very satisfactory. A search here using Google will probably turn that info up.
There are several pages of results:
Note the syntax of the search term - that specifies searching this website. It's a much better search than the internal search engine built into the forum.
Good luck - let us know what you do..
