Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Despite super gluing it back in, the dip beam is still not working (I suspect I may have damaged the bulb in the process).

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dear All, I went to change the High-beam bulbs as they were quite yellow compared to Dipped-beam and I discovered what appears to be an aftermarket Litronic kit. When I put the light back in the Dip beam wasn't working. upon investigation, the black wire, which a previous owner had stuck in with tape, had come out. Despite super gluing it back in, the dip beam is still not working (I suspect I may have damaged the bulb in the process). However, here is the problem. The connection to the bulb is not detachable. The wires from the bulb go straight to a connector! This means it requires a very specific bulb that has the connector attached. Has anyone come across this setup before, does anyone have a work-around or do I need to source a new kit or something? I have included some photos so you can see what I am talking about. Any help gratefully received. Cheers Austin

POST 3Original post

It's a third party HID kit. That type of connector is pretty normal on those. You could probably buy another kit for about the cost of a new lamp.

POST 4Original post

Mine has an aftermarket HID kit. I was worried it might fail an MOT, but apparently so long as you hjave headlight washers, they can pass. I suppose because this model could come with Litronic, if it has the headlight washers, most testers wont spot the aftermarket kit.

POST 5Original post

I have Litronics fitted after market so the washers and levelling don't work. I haven't had MoT issues.
