Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

U can check continuity from each plug.and back pin the dme harness to i.d.

Suggestion · Original poster

I think I need to test the leads to the coil packs to be sure they're right.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Moving on with the reassembly of my 2004 911 Carerra (remember, I didn't take it apart!) I'm working out the routing of the wiring harness. An immediate question is: Are the wires/connectors to the coil packs specific to the different cylinders (as they would be if the car had a regular distributor & plug wires)? If yes, how do I tell which connector goes to which cylinder? Thx, David

POST 2Original post

Yes they r specific. U can check continuity from each plug.and back pin the dme harness to i.d. where the wires go. But if u place the harness in the motor correctly they will line up and only go 1 way.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, thanks. I think I need to test the leads to the coil packs to be sure they're right. What/where is the "dme harness"? Thanks much, David

POST 4Original post

The dme is the cars computer. Its on the deck behind the rear seat. Dont prob the pins from the front unless u have a very a small pin. Its best to get a set of "spoons" and prob from the back side. If done from the front u can spead the pins amd it causes intermintant conections that will through faults. Bentley manuals have good schematics if i need them.

POST 5Original post

I would look up the wire colors in the wiring diagram. Much easier. I looked them up for you. This is what the service manual shows for coil packs. #1 green/blue #2 green/yellow #3 green/gray #4 green/black #5 green/white #6 green/red I suppose you need the fuel injectors also? #1 brown/black #2 brown/red #3 brown/gray #4 brown/yellow #5 brown/green #6 brown/blue

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
