My dealer called me today and said that my car is in production and is due to be completed on Nov 21.
Leading evidence: 'be completed' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Suggestion
The only sad part about this is that this early build does not allow me to add the sport shifter, which must now be ordered and installed by the dealer.(We tried last week to change the order but could not)Anyone know what is involved withchanging out the shifter?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Got a call from the dealer today (Porsche of Hilton Head) who informed me that my car was listed with a completion date of November 14 !!!! The only sad part about this is that this early build does not allow me to add the sport shifter, which must now be ordered and installed by the dealer.(We tried last week to change the order but could not)Anyone know what is involved withchanging out the shifter?
As an FYI on my 2005 Boxster S the delivery date when it arrived at the dealership was about 4-1/2 to 5 weeks after the completion date, assuming similar schedules that should mean the first round of cars could come in as early as Xmas!
Received a note from my dealer yesterday that mybuild date isNovember 2nd.The car then gets shipped to Japan(40 days)so I'm hearing that I might have delivery defore the end of the year. I'm not optimisitic given the year-end holidays so I'm thinking I'll get to pick it up thefirst business day of 2006 - January 6th.I had ordered the shift kit but it was not available on November builds.
The dealer ordered it and will install when the car arrives.
The last time I checked my build date was Nov. 7th. I tried to add TPMS last Wednesday but was not able to as I already had a production number/date........I'm sure nothing has changed, so sport shift isalso out, but it will be added later!
My dealer says they will release the car to me as soon as they receive it........the question is......when will they receive it??
/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/sad_smile.gifRe Atlas Croc's post - has anyone beengiven a firm datewhen they should expect delivery? I got my order in on day one and am still being told that regardless of when the car comes in, it will not be delivered until mid-January!
My dealership in South Florida advised me that they have the largest alocation in the US and will receive a relatively large number of Caymans for delivery in January, mine being one of them. He went on to say that no matter when the car comes in, they will not release it to me until January 15. They said I can go up there and hug it, kiss it, smell it or spend the day in it, but I cannot take it home until January 15. This, they said, comes directly from Porsche and will be strictly enforced.
My plans at this time include spending time at the dealership so I can bond with the car and assure it that it is going to a good home. (I think I'm beginning to lose it)
I think the answer to this question will depend on'
When Porsche Cars NA delivers the cars to the dealers, which I would imagine has a lot to do with the proximity to the port of entry. If the dealer has the car why wouldn't theydeliver it to you, especially if it's around Christmas time and everyone at Porsche is feeling good about those record year end bonuses?
So, Isuggest anew parallelthread for January delivery people.
Do you have a special drive in mind for your newCayman S considering that it is January?
If this was the case I would be pissed. The last thing I want is for my new Porsche to be stored at a dealership........I don't think this will happen though. If Porsche was to hold them back it would probably either be at the factory or at a port. Whatever the case may be I'm not really fond of the way Porsche is doing this.
Perhaps my December build date will not put delivery of my Cayman too far behind the November cars after all. I agree that holding them until mid-January is not good.

I have a GMC C3 truck that was a limited edition. GM had a website that allowed me to follow its daily progress from the factory onto a train all the way to the dealer. Porsche should have something like that to create more excitement for owners. It would be fun to track the ship with Google Earth.[/quote]

I too got my build date confirmation for nov. 2nd, and was told not to expect to get the car until the second week in Jan. I am still hoping that i will somehow get it in nov. b/c i cant wait. I also could not add the sport shifter, but it isnt going to be a prob installing it aftermarket and might even save me some money. They did say they will have a cayman s on the floor next month but will not sell it before the jan. release date.
My dealer ( I talk directly to Porsche Italy) says they will release the car to me 19 December...for sure but without exaust ....SHIFTER.....AND SOME OTHER SPORT part that is available letely
I've ordered (really preordered...because they wasn't ready *_*))) ......first day of july....one of the first in Italy.....

The European cars will be released to customers beginning sometime in November. The US situation is different because Porsche will not allow the cars to be released to customers until after the Detroit auto show where the car will have its US 'premier'. I seriouslydoubt the dealers will allow Porsche to deliver the cars to them without allowing release to the customers since they have to make inventory space and insure the cars which costs money if its more than a few days to a week. The cars will be stored at the POE facility until perhaps a few days or a week prior to the first delivery date (1/14-1/16) allowed.
My dealer called me today and said that my car is in production and is due to be completed on Nov 21. So it appears mine should be in the batch that will be available on the launch date. Obviously that means I still can't add the sport shifter to the order, but he says the can get them and can put one in there. I had also wanted red seatbelts, but he said there was no chance of seeing those until late next year for some reason.

WOOHOO...Just got the long awaited call from dealer saying my car was assigned a build number. Said it should be built within the next 30 days. Sad thing is that I will only be able to drive down to dealer and look at it until they will release it to me. At least they said they would understand if I were there every day.
I tried to add Automatic Climate Control to my order on October 24th and learned that my Cayman is 'frozen' in production. Personally, I'm glad that I can no longer dither over colors and options - just sit back and wait - wait - wait./fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/drive.gif
I received confrimation from my dealer today of a November 21 build date. Arctic Silver, Cocoa full leather, PASM, 19' Carrera Classics, Sport Shift, PCM, Sports Cnrono Plus, Bi-Xenons, Phone for PCM, Adaptive Sport Seats, and Bose.
