Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Whilst the wire routing is highly questionable and the fixings are low grade (I initially used normal exhaust clamps but they rusted through in a few years before being replaced with quality components) what shocks me are the mangled nuts and terrible angle grinding.

Suggestion
Use a correct spanner to tighten nuts and spend an extra 5 seconds aligning the grinder before each initial cut if you are going to 'save money' on cheap components.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

First off i have to say .. the way the exhaust silencers have been fitted doesn't look good but it is functional and is doing the intended job .
Effectively the customer wanted to save the £80 on what we quoted for the job .. we quoted for the correct fixings , this also shows the difference in pricing between garages .
Pictures show the end result .. to me i kinda feel the extra 80 would have been worth it but either way the silencers are attached .
...wow
... Pictures like this are why I do my own maintenance Iain...truly shocking...a total mess...
...and was the car found at the bottom of the sea? So rusty underneath!
Better now cheers Giles .. extra work due to the cost of living these days is keeping me away from here i'm afraid .. trying to catch up at weekends atm.
I also went and caught Covid .. again .. sigh .. downside of the wife being an NHS nurse .
Ref pictures .. my point is the fixings are doing their job .. but you can see why some garages are cheaper than others when quoting jobs .. we quoted with the correct parts .
I have no problem with people trying to save money though .. that is after all why i come here .
And yes .. there are plenty of sharp edges there and i'm not sure how long plastic hose will last in that area .. it should be steel braided .

It just shouts COWBOY!

Imagine if they replaced an IMS!!
Hi Iain, sorry to hear you caught Covid again! Hope you're back to firing on all cylinders but as we've said before, there's a lot of it around and your wife and my Dawn, happen to be in situations where it's all around them :nooo:
Regarding the exhaust: Hmm, there are times when it's worth saving a few pounds and times when it's not and clearly this is the latter.
If the car came up for sale and I looked underneath and saw that, I'd seriously wonder what else had been penny pinched.
A truly horrible standard of work on a Porsche :yuk: :yuk:
Stay well my friend!
You pays your money and take your choice - and accept the level of quality you pay for. I'm always a fan of "if it's worth doing, then it's worth doing properly" - but then I can also take that to extremes as Mr DeMort knows too well from looking after my cars
The way it looks under there is just sad. I always thought you don't buy a Porsche to let it deteriorate like that...
But then I can imagine why someone would not want to pour more than absolute minimum cash into this car, as it would require some serious overhaul to make it actually worthwhile.
