Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. I have no affiliation with Thingiverse, that creator and this is the first time I used CraftCloud and Corvalis.
Leading evidence: 'Use craftcloud and corvalis' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace i have made so far' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. I used Craftcloud.com which is a maker aggregator website - you submit what you want and they provide offers from the marketplace.

I simply used electrical tape to connect all that up with a little wire.

I have never had a place to put my iphone so the other change I made was to add a magnet wireless charger.

the 3D file is really good - it has the correct brace to clip onto the console holders (you need to remove the orange screw clips!) and the brace to bolt it down just ahead of the gearshift lever - you remove the steel brace that holds the old console and you are left with 4 bolts, you use the 2x closest to the firewall to bold the console down.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've wanted to add a console delete in my 996 for a while now. A year or two ago the part was $500 and more recently its closer to $1,000 which has really too much to justify the update. Recently however I found a 3D file on the web and decided to try that option which ended up costing me $70 including shipping. I'm super happy with it so thought I'd share an update here. The fit was perfect clipping to the frame that holds the old console in place, and the bolts in front of the gear shift. It is designed to be covered in carpet so is a little 'small' near the gear shift on the sides to accommodate for that. The 3D printing lines are visible but for me not that noticeable given its on the floor and black. I have never had a place to put my iphone so the other change I made was to add a magnet wireless charger. That cost me $15 from homegoods and required only minor modification. To that I added a cigarette lighter USB charger that I connected to the spare switched terminal that sat behind the console. I simply used electrical tape to connect all that up with a little wire. The charger therefore turns on with the car, and off as soon as I switch off the ignition. No battery drain. The cigarette lighter USB is hidden under the new console so will never be seen. I think that cost me $7. So less than $100 and an hour's work I'm a happy camper, it would have been cheaper if I printed in straight ABS but I chose a slightly more expensive more robust plastic. If I did have some spare Porsche carpet I might try to cover it but its far from critical. BTW - there are two pieces that need to be printed; the console itself and then the cover for the hole in front of the gear shift on the rear console
with the wireless charger!
I used Craftcloud.com which is a maker aggregator website - you submit what you want and they provide offers from the marketplace. I chose Corvallis3D who I think is out of Oregan. Prices are cheaper if you can wait a couple of weeks. The material I chose was ASA but now I see that Porsche internal plastics are ABS which is a cheaper material. With ASA, shipping ($10.50) and a discount code ($6.50) I found on the web the price came to $66.62 for both pieces. I chose black because that's the color of my interior. I was almost going to go with yellow but that that might be a little too much at the last minute. I'm sure that you could chose a savannah beige color or a grey if those are your carpet colors.
The 3D file I used is here at Thingiverse. "download here" button top right of the image. Load that up to CraftCloud for an instant quote from multiple makers

I have no affiliation with Thingiverse, that creator and this is the first time I used CraftCloud and Corvalis. I was really a complete gamble that I was comfortable losing $70 on. My research indicated that for a piece this big you needed a heated baseplate and enclosure so the piece would not warp so best left to the professionals vs me buying a printer for $1k+ and not using it again.
the 3D file is really good - it has the correct brace to clip onto the console holders (you need to remove the orange screw clips!) and the brace to bolt it down just ahead of the gearshift lever - you remove the steel brace that holds the old console and you are left with 4 bolts, you use the 2x closest to the firewall to bold the console down. The console is really sturdy and doesn't flex at all.
The result was good enough I wanted to share here - If you do the same pls post the result!
Hell yeah man, thanks for sharing the process. I will certainly use this. Need to find a good carpet match to finish it off but this is a cheap and easy solution.
I got mine about a week ago. I had to trim off several parts of the model to get it to fit right. the tabs that go over the bolts that hold it down had to be trimmed to fit over the electronics under the console. The sides of the tops rubbed against the underside of the dash. The place where the console meets this was also not quite right. I sanded off some of the ABS but had to place a small spacer under the crew location at the front of the console to make it sit right.
There are no tabs at the front end of the model to slip into the clips. It pressed in tight and the nuts at the rear ebnd hold it down fine.
The model I down loaded is not the same as the one in the photos at the start of this thread. Maybe that one fits better.
the finish was just ok. Lots of lines from the ABS 3d printer. The cover plate just ahead of the shifter did not fit all that well, and the shape was ok, but not that great. The top edge is a little short of the underside of the dash as well. You can not see that unless you get down low.
I ended up painting it.
I really like the space. I am 6'1" and the room for my legs is really great. After a leather cover on the wood steering wheel, it's he model I down loaded is slightly different from the one in the start of the treat.
the best interior change I have made so far.
Where I sanded at the joint of the console and the piece. In filler primer.
You can see I sawed off some of the triangular tab. I had to remove more on the left.
you can see the gap at the top.
Look at all that room!!!
total cost with paint and sand paper $100
Good enough for me!
I am looking for some sort of small tray for my sun glasses on top of the flat part before it rises. Probably I will just velcro that in.
Finally got around to finishing up my console delete with the 3d printed file from this thread. Wrapped it in carpet from GAHH Automotive. Relocated the HVAC and added a new continental headunit. I did need to trim a bit off to get the console delete kit to mount under the console but that was pretty easy. Turned out great for the price. Carpet was $100ish with PLENTY to spare. Thank you OP you saved me a lot of money and got rid of alot of useless plastic.
The carpet on the original is in 3 pieces. One big piece that covers the main part of the console and then 2 smaller pieces that are on separate panels that clip on.
