Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Think the fuel tank is smaller but for everyday use the only problem is the very limited ground clearance, it makes most speed bumps, but on any sloping ground / ramps / big depressions the chin spoiler (rubber) snags.

Leading evidence: 'very limited ground clearance' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'very limited ground clearance' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Run (add expensive into the equation) than a carrera 2' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

AS for running costs compared to a Carrera, I've no idea.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.
Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Still getting used to the grip/weight over rear wheels, but have to say it is quite remarkable !
Yep, can't wait for Folembray. Bit worried about the reports of GT3 brakes getting too hot on track, though. Still getting used to the grip/weight over rear wheels, but have to say it is quite remarkable !
Folembray is pistonheads trackday in France, so you know the monkeys on track with you. Would go myself but on my birthday weekend.
See the pistonheads home page for more details.
Its a Comfort - I've only had it a couple of months, still can't get over just how good it is in every respect
- can't make Folembray but will be keeping a close eye on other forthcoming events.
Kris,
I also came from owning TVR's (3 Cerberas/Tuscan RR/Griff/Chimaera) the Porsche is the best move so far !
I don't miss the acceleration of the Cerbera as I now have fantastic handling, safety and that old chestnut reliability.
The GT3 is very close to TVR feel in trems of rawness, I don't find the suspension too firm, or the car too noisy. Tyre roar is pretty bad on the motorway, though.
So its a 3.6 ltr engine non turbo with other bits and pieces - thanks
Beaver - Glad you are enjoying it, I think that you have summarised the differences well. Your reasons for moving to the 911 are pretty much the same reasons as mine - overall ownership experience, handling, performance, reliability etc - in other words the total package!
How much more impractical are these cars to run (add expensive into the equation) than a Carrera 2.
Do not worry about harsh ride as that is only a concern for pensioners
The question is being asked because a new Carrera is only 6000 pounds less than a 2 year old GT3 with 22,000 miles I have just seen.
Just curious , on some of the pics on the sites listed here , a few of the GT3`s have what looks like air vents around the front on the nose and some do not , there is a GT3 in a dealer near me he`s had it some time now by the way , what do these vents signify if anything
They all have air vents, some (like mine) have a mesh grille over them to stop stones and leaves getting trapped.
AS for running costs compared to a Carrera, I've no idea. Think the fuel tank is smaller but for everyday use the only problem is the very limited ground clearance, it makes most speed bumps, but on any sloping ground / ramps / big depressions the chin spoiler (rubber) snags. Sounds a lot worse from inside, but just rubs on the splitter.
Should get about 20 - 25 MPG if driven sensibly, but that just doesn't seem to happen very often.
20-25 mpg would be heaven for me compared to my M3.....
The reason I am asking is a car I am looking at has had 2 clutches in 22,000 miles which sounds like a financial disaster to me. If this is the case, what about the rest of the stressed mechanical parts? Sounds as bad as a Ferrari that does
2 clutches sounds excessive to me. The GT3 is supposedly built around motorsport components. Everyday use shouldn't put any stress on it. Perhaps the last owner was a clutch-burner...
My one feels very solid, only things I don't like too much are the noisy flywheel at idle with foot off clutch (only applies to Club Sports) and the intrusive tyre roar on motorways.
I have a question about spring rates. Does any of you know the spring rates (lb/in) for your Porsches, especially the RS, GT2 or GT3?
I'm looking at a getting some uprated springs for my car, and am trying to compare the actual rates so I can get an idea of ride 'quality'.
Thanks
j14nsx - I have an RS but not sure about spring rates. Sorry. Maybe one of the more technical PHers can help. My car has rock solid suspension, though. Doesn't roll around corners, but you hit the roof on potholes.
Beaver,
I see youve had a number of decent cars. I am currently looking at selling an awesomely modified 3.3, and have considered looking at tvr's. I have heard that they suffer terribly from poor runnung and and general bad design? Also,I never seem to have any any problems pulling away from Cerbera's or 355's - do you find your gt3 is your fastest car to date? Any recommendations!!

Actually, Cerbera 4.5 Red Rose fastest by a country mile, an honest 412 BHP, close ratio gearbox and light weight. Never passed by anything, even caught and overtook a 993 T4 on a long stretch of dual carriageway, just reeled him in.
However, not so fast on twisting roads or the track, so far the Evo and Exige are way ahead, the GT3 debuts at Donnington this Sunday so I'll have a better idea then.
