I also got them to check the brake pipe that runs over the gearbox for corrosion while the box was out and it was fine.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just thought i would post a link to some of the things I've done to my 996 since buying it from forum member locosaki in April this year. I've basically just carried on from page 2 of his build/maintenance thread http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=124822&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20 Carl

POST 2Original post

Carl, you have inherited a great car, and am really glad you have carried on the meticulous work to maintain and improve it - well done indeed. :thumb:

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Having watched some of you updating your interiors recently I've had my steering wheel, arm rest, handbrake and shift boot retrimmed by royal steering wheels in metropole blue leather with silver stitching. While that was getting done I had my centre console painted arctic silver and replaced the ash tray with the coin tray. Also replaced the gear knob with a wooden one from built by basil, took a few months for it to arrive but I'm very happy with it. Like others have said it really lifts the interior and everything feels nicer to touch. Carl

POST 7Original post

I grew to really like my metropole, but what you've done really celebrates and lifts it - well done!

POST 8Original post

That all looks really nice - great work :worship:

POST 9Original post

They are really nice interior upgrades. Top work!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wellsy it was while i was checking out your interior upgrades that finally inspired me to do mine after thinking about it for a while. Also thinking about seats but cant decide on those, especially as most seats are black so would need to get them retrimmed to match my dark blue. I did try to buy the buckets for sale on here but you beat me to it  Carl

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well its been an expensive few months with my 996! I decided to buy a oem gt3 taco lid off a forum member to give my car the full aero kit look as my car had the carrera fixed wing. While stripping it for painting i found the 2 small brackets that hold the centre part of the wing on were broken and they cost £323 from Porsche  I got some money back from the guy i bought the wing off towards the cost of new brackets but Porsche really taking the piss with pricing on these!!

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Then 2nd gear started to crunch/very stiff to select when cold, and my aircon stopped working, so i booked my car in with sport and classic who have got a very good rep with gearboxes. Few weeks later gearbox was stripped and i needed new 2nd gear stack and a piece of some thing had damaged the diff sun and planet gears, so the diff and some bearings were replaced as well. I also got them to check the brake pipe that runs over the gearbox for corrosion while the box was out and it was fine. Aircon had a leak from the fill up valves so they were replaced and regassed so nice and cold again now. While it was there got them to do 4 wheel alignment as i had renewed the suspenion not to long ago. 6 weeks later and I've got it back now and all spot on, rebuilt engine by Hartech and refreshed gearbox by sport and classic, can't be anymore big bills for along time now surely ??? lol Grand total £5092
