Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, during a visit to the track a couple of weeks ago my car blew out a cloud of white smoke under hard acceleration. Also it smoked on start up before each subsequent spell on the track and I needed to top up the oil during the track day. On the journey home the car was fine and has been fine ever since, not smoking on start up or during driving, not using any oil. The car doesn't feel down on power either. Any ideas and should I be worried? Not sure if I need to get this looked into further as I only take the car to the track a couple of times a year? Cheers, Neil.

POST 2Original post

Hey Neil....you're lucky that nothing happened to the car on the track after repeated runs. I wouldn't suggest taking it back for more laps after it blew out the white smoke. It could be something very minuscule; but why take the chance on a 996 - have someone look at it to make sure all is well. Just my 2 cents... -Dmitry

POST 3Original post

You were probably overpowering the AOS ability to handle it's scavenger/breather assignment. This is not unusual for 996 on track. Some folks have successfully stopped this by running the engine for a couple minutes "cool down" after a session. Also running 1 bar down on the indicator can help. If it continues on the way home and/or during the next few days AOS failure is probable.
