Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'battery' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'battery' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check professionally rather than throw parts at it' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Used ones seems fairly available online but I am not massively keen on used parts in general.

When the car was used regularly, it was fine and when it was connected to an accumate when not it use it was fine.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Out of the blue I have a couple of warning lights on. PSM and ABS coming on together.
I have scanned for codes and it gives a steering angle sensor fault.
I have re-calibrated to no effect.
4 wheel alignment also no cure.
I have priced the sensor and it is a whopping £700 and change :eh!:
Used ones seems fairly available online but I am not massively keen on used parts in general.
Am I being too fussy here? And does anyone have any thoughts on what other than the sensor might be the issue.
Finally, is there a cheaper new sensor option out there?
Thanks, as ever, for all responses

I had this and it turned out to be the battery. Its in my running thread and a separate post, plus plenty of 1-2-1 correspondence with DeMort.
When the car was used regularly, it was fine and when it was connected to an accumate when not it use it was fine. Changed the battery and so far all good.
Thanks for the information, I will have a good read through your posts.
I did change the battery, but that was in January and this light show is just a couple of weeks old. But still worth of investigation.
Thanks again.
Did the warnings go off and stay off when you killed the ignition - or are they still on?
If they have gone off I wouldnt worry about it - it happened to me recently when I happened to hit a particularly poor bit of road which was severely broken, off-camber and under braking - I think the poor ABS and PASM system got confused. Did something similar happen to you immediately before the warnings came up.
If you Google the issue poor road surface does seem to trigger the fault under perfect storm conditions but it does goes away upon restarting.
Could be battery as said or wheel sensor/reluctor rings maybe?

Hi Ray, thanks for chipping in, every bit helps!
The warning lights both go off and stay off after each restart.
They then come back on after a couple of miles driving.
No obvious correlation to speed/road surface quality or enthusiasm of driving style!

£195 for a Bosch part - not sure how tricky this is to fit though.
