Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well i've had my facelift C4 for around 3 months now and i can honestly say i love it to bits, i've only had a couple of problems since getting it and thats the one of the lower arms went but fortunately i got this replaced on warranty!!! the work was done at OPC and it had a complete set up done at the same time. I've had a bad experience with Porsche body centre who ruined my wheels, i can honestly say i could have done a better job with spray cans in my garage, they had 2 attempts at getting them right first time i went to collect it and they had painted over corrosion so needless to say i was not happy, second time i went to collect they assured me that the wheels had been shot blasted and resprayed and laquered and looked like new wheels however upon inspection they were terribly patchy and in some places you could see primer !!! I've found a wheels specialist to sort them out and i've got one of the best paint sprayers i know respraying my nose for me for £220 which i'm really happy about !!! The only other thing i can say is concerning me is the Air Con is making a what can be described as a whiney noise??? Some places i've read that it possibly just needs a re-gass?, it seems to function fine and is cold just making a bit of a noise. Apart from those issues i'm enjoying the car and think that i have a sound car, the clutch feels fine and it seems to run really well, i had a bit of smoke a couple of times on start up in the first week but i think that this could be that whoever had it before had run it on crap fuel, i've only ever put super unleaded excellium in it and it hasn't smoked since, i think the good fuel cleaned it out. My verdict is that 996's are good cars and as long as they are well looked after they are pretty bullet proof. I think that when its time to change i'll get a turbo version. Whatever happens i think that now i've had a 911 i wouldn't wish to be without one!!

POST 2Original post

dstyrrell, good to hear you're enjoying it As for the air con, you only need a regas if it's not cold, and I mean cold, as it starts to make the noise you mention as the gas runs low but with a car of that age, a re-gas is the most likely requirement as it would have not been done before
