Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
If you have a MOST equipped car replacing the headunit will involve replacing everything downstream of the speakers, so amps, cd-changers etc will have to go.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Help please. Looks like my PCM2 head unit may be knackered! Don't ask! the post might be deleted in case I offend anyone...... :x
What options do I have? Other than a replacement PCM2 - which isn't that good anyway.
Need to have Bluetooth, sat nav and ipod.
Car has Bose and Fiber optics
Thanks
Steve

How do you know your PCM2 is faulty?
Damian is spot on - a half decent system will cost you at least a grand. A number of members, including me, have installed a double DIN Kenwood unit which will give you everything you want. However, and this is where the trouble starts, most systems won't drive the Porsche speaker configuration without the installation of crossovers - this is because the standard speaker system seperates the bass, mid range and tweeters in the front. Also, the amp in your boot requires the fibre optic interface from the original head unit, so you can't connect the new head unit into the original amp.

Hi,
Not sure if you've already spotted this.

But some good information on replacing the unit. Upshot is it's about £1k, then you've got to factor in any speaker changes if you fancy it.
Cheers,

Cheers guys. I saw the earlier post and was considering the Kenwood system. I also believe that there is a new Pioneer system out this week with bluetooth, satnav and ipod input. Its the AVIC F9000BT.
Appreciate that crossovers will have to be fitted and the current amp bypassed.
For info, PCM2 unit appears to be working again but after 2 seperate failed attempts to try and integrate a mObridge ipod unit and Parrot bluetooth phone kit I am seriously thinking of removing it and fitting a decent system.
PS for clarity, I don't believe the mObridge unit or the parrot unit to be at fault in anyway (before anyone takes offence) but it just does not appear to be as straight forward assuggested to integrate with my PCM2 head unit..... The facts are there. to date it has cost me 2 x days of installers time and no further forward.
