But the inside of the motor was extremely clean I replaced the lifters and 4-5 timing chain and one Vario Cam actuator because the wires where damaged new chain guides and pads and.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's there a way to identify if Intermediate Shaft is designed for the dual or Single Row bearing? My engines IMS was boged together and I'm wondering if the shafts are different between dual and Single row bearings. my engine number should be a Single row but it has a dual row cover and the bearings was replacement from Pelican parts but didn't have the correct spacers installed when measuring the bearing width and the IMS Snap Ring grove the bearing is also too narrow 🤔 now I'm wondering if the IMS is supposed to be a Dual row or was rebuilt at some point with one?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here are some pictures I took of the difference in width from the back of the machined pocked in the IMS to the front edge of the snap ring grove and the width of the bearing

POST 3Original post

Yes they are different.. The single row shaft will have the groove for the retaining ring at 14mm from the back of the hole......The double row shaft will be about 19mm from the back of the hole... looks like you have a double row shaft and some nit witt put a single row bearing in it ( with no spacers ) ... I'm surprized it lasted till you found it.. Better look around for more "quality" work ...

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

There was definitely some funny stuff but surprisingly everything inside the motor looked perfect. There's a good possibility it never ran with that in there. They had been preparing it as a backup motor replaced a bunch of seals and then It sat for years and they LS swapped it. But the inside of the motor was extremely clean I replaced the lifters and 4-5 timing chain and one Vario Cam actuator because the wires where damaged new chain guides and pads and. And retimed the motor as both banks where timed together now there 360 apart the tool only fits one side at a time now. But the funny part is that I could tell the valve covers where never removed and the Vario cam pads where shot
