Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I know this is probably the wrong place to post being the 996 forum but I have a question that may give some interesting replies.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If you were lucky enough to have £50k to spend on a great drivers cars, preferably a Porsche, and you hoped it would at least stay steady or even gain a little in value over the years, where would your money go?
To be very honest and checking the market carefully , if I want something solid , I would go for two assests only :
964 RS
993 TT
The 996's were made in such high numbers to be considered solid - heck no car around 50k ( at least in the Porsche "modern" worl ) could be seen as an investment - they will all loose money with time, some faster some slower.
Those two will , within your price band, loose money much slower than anything else.
I would recommend a 993TT - fast, furious and its the last of aircooled turbo's.
Personally, I bought a 996TT - I want an everyday supercar and the 993 to live everyday its a bit complicated - although if I wanted something for the weekends I would probably went to the 964RS.
A 996 GT2 is the worse option of all - along with the 996TT, their values are going down down down...
GT3 is going down but at a much slower rate.
The reason of the GT2/GT3/GT3RS to go much faster down on depreciation is easy - they are being replaced. Yes the GT2 is a fantastic machine. But theres a new model that its better. And will be another, etc.
964 RS on the other hand hasnt been replaced - a stripped down, air cooled track eating machine.
Same with the 993TT - its the last of the aircooled beasts ( if you dont count with the uber rare 993GT2 ) and that will make him a classic. Plus build quality is top notch and mint examples are getting harder to source.
That was my advice, do your homework and see what you would like
i think some cars are overpriced atm (shown by the number of people cashing in)
IMO 993GT2, 993RS, 1973RS, 964RS are all over priced so i wouldn't feel so secure buying one.
993TT i like mine it seems to float around the same price and for the money you get allot of bang for your buck.
996's seem to have been to widely produced but perhaps the GT3 MK1 might find a market or the ex race cars (often go up in price over time after the initial dip in price)
From personal experince:
Model (Year): Purchase Price (mileage) - Trade in price on p/x (mileage)
993C2 (1996): £22,000 (74,000) - £18,000 (89,000)
993Targa (1996) £28,000 (56,000) - £22,000 (64,000)
993TT (1998): £44,000 (54,000) - £35,000 (70,000)
996TT (2000): £44,000 (44,000) - £34,000 (56,000)
Following car owned for 3 weeks so probably doesn't count
996TT (2002): £46,000 (46,000) - £44,000 (47,000)
Saw a lot of appreciation but it wasn't my wallet
I reckon an unmolested low miles RHD GT3 mk 1... rare, and good value compared to other 'RSs' which are all premium money- I agree with Simon- the market's frothy
In the current climate though, who knows. Any big ticket item is vulnerable.
Alternatively, a really sorted, original low miles 3.2 ClubSport
Or even a nice 3.2 Carrera Sport coupe, and you'd have lots of change. Its a classic, so its done its depreciating...
