The garage that's letting me to use his lift to do the work myself will do the alignment on Monday, no appointment not wait time.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm about to do a complete suspension refresh, shocks, control Arms, bushings, etc. I also have a complete brakes refresh kit including fluid flush lined up. All parts on hand. I'm thinking I should probably do the suspension first, get that aligned, before doing the brakes. Not sure bedding the brakes on the way to the alignment is a sound strategy...

POST 2Original post

Doesnt matter the order in which u do the work as long as u do it correctlh.

POST 3Original post

Yeah, it really wont matter. If you are like me, I like to separate part replacement/upgrades so I can isolate and see/test if there is an improvement and what the improvement is. As an example, I would do the suspension first, see what I feel, dial it in, and then do the brakes. But to me, this is fun. To others, it may be overkill. But I wouldn't worry about bedding in brakes with a car thats not aligned. Unless you are going to track the car, you will bed them in just driving around town.

POST 4Original post

As someone who has done everything youve mentioned, Id recommend including all wheel bearings in a suspension refresh. While you have the rear axles out, evaluate if they should be rebuilt/replaced.

POST 5Original post

I'd do it at one time. Everything has to come apart anyway. When I did this, I made careful notes of all of the alignment adjustments. I had no issue getting to the alignment center that was about 4 hours away. (I lived in Key West back then and had to go to Miami.) This will also eliminate an deinstall/install cycle on your caliper bolts. (In theory you should replace the caliper bolts each time you remove them. In theory anyways.) You are in Boblingen? I think your alignment center (Porsche Zentrum) is all of five minutes away?

I live next to BB. My alignment will in fact be 2 minutes away from the house. But the car won't have to go anywhere else nor wait. The garage that's letting me to use his lift to do the work myself will do the alignment on Monday, no appointment not wait time. I start the replacement job tomorrow. So it's become a moot point i guess.

POST 7Original post

Brake lines are pretty trivial, I did it all in one go. Also gives you a bit more room to work on the suspension. Wouldn't even consider doing them separately tbh. In my case all hard lines that connect the flexible lines to the caliper were rusted and the nuts seized, so I remade those out of copper/nickel. I do recommend you marinade the bleed nipples and nuts for the flex hoses with penetrating oil before you start.

Just to change the subject I really like Boblingin. First night i ever spent in germany was exploring the town and hanging at the v8 motorsport hotel in 2018. Heading back in the fall but just to cruise down the Rhine.
