Mine did this a few times when I installed a K&N air intake box and filter.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there, I didnt drove the car for 6 or 7 days now - dont ask why, missing it. But when I turned the key yesterday, got my on board computer and lights saying ABS Failure, go to Porsche Workshop and also PSM Failure, go to Porsche Workshop. I switch the car off and turned back on, everything ok. Drove to Tesco ( well, supposedly , since its 10m away and I took 2 hours but still... ) and back and no further problems. I've read somewhere that if the car sits off too long its somewhat normal for the ABS and PSM cry for the first time but then they go off - right or wrong ?

POST 2Original post

This is probably nothing more than your maf sensor playing up. Thats the sensor in the air intake in the engine bay. Mine did this a few times when I installed a K&N air intake box and filter. May be just some dirt or dust in the system after no use. At worst its probably a new sensor that you are looking at. Not sure how much they are but Id be guessing between £100 and £200 max. 5 minute fit yourself. Id let it go for a couple of weeks and see if it goes away. did on mine.

POST 3Original post

It could be related to a dirty MAF (or coil, I can't remember which one)...but this affects the PSM/ABS system in some way (especially if both come on at the same time). This was explained on the forum a little whilst ago. Another option is that the PSM/ABS checks at start up and you could have a slightly worn sensor. If the problem has cleared itself, then the PSM/ABS system is happy that everything is back to normal and you'll find that the fault will have also been cleared from the OBC. My suggestion is to not worry about it unless it happens on a regular basis, in which case take it down to your Indy/OPC for them to plug their diagnostic tools in whilst the error is showing (this is tricky, because if you turn off the ignition, you will probably lose the fault code).

POST 4Original post

My first thoughts are the MAF, but I seem to remember someone else saying it could be a sensor connected to the brake pedal?

POST 5Original post

Yep, that was me... Was indeed a brake pedal position sensor apparently - took 5 minutes for the OPC in Cologne to fit a 5€ part and they didn't even charge for the labour!

I'm glad to see my memory isn't failing quite yet
