Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

This website only provides information about MOT tests carried out by garages using MOT Computerisation.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've tried searching but can't find an answer to this:
I'm looking at buying a 2002 C4 cab
36k miles
Pretty good nick at a good price
Loads of receipts, etc but the seller says that JCT Newcastle 'lost' the service book. Obviously I'll check them in detail to ensure continuity of servicing, etc.
Should I be concerned?
Is it possible to get a replacement and get it re-stamped?
What impact does it have on re-sale value?
No problem to get a duplicate service book
it will be stamped replacement across page 4
most dealerships will have service details on their computerised records
the problems arrise where some dealerships have arcived their old records and can no longer access them
the moral of this story being allways phone and check the validity of the stamps, you'd be amazed what a rubber stamp shop can do for £11.95
also interesting to do a search on
www.motinfo.gov.uk
it gives you a list of previous mot's and mileages,
i had someone show me a Boxster in part ex yesterday, 2002 2 service stamps in a replacement book, owner told me he couldn't contact the previous owner,
in 5 minutes this am i found the phone no of the previous owner and that the car was clocked from the mot history, as the new mot on the car done 3 days before he bought it was 10,000 miles less than the mot 4 months prior to that!!
I have the opposite - a stamped service book but no invoices for first 3 services, so I dont know what else was done apart from the service.
If I call the OPC's that did the work, will they tell me what else was done, or send me a copy of the invoice? Or is there some privacy issue meaning they cant tell me what someone else paid for? Any tips for getting this info from them?

Introduction
Records of MOT test results are now held on a secure central computerised database called MOT Computerisation.
This website only provides information about MOT tests carried out by garages using MOT Computerisation. Please note that the results of MOT tests carried out before the new system was introduced in April 2005 are not held on the database.
Unfortunately the latter from my experience. The only thing I could suggest is contact the previous owners (if known) and ask if they could request the information for you.
I had this issue with some OPC's when trying to see what the actual work was carried out on top of the service (or what recc/advisory was provided).
I requested a copy of the Actual invoices related to the vehicle and requested them to remove the personal details (even though as the current owner, you can access the details of all previous keepers) and then send/fax a copy. Some OPC will even want to remove prices, but this didn't bother me as I was after getting an idea of what may be due as part of the next service.
The car or an item is not considered part of the Data Protection Act and without personal details (of which it can be associated/connected to) it is merely "data" and not "personal data".
You may be requested to send them a copy of the logbook ect to verify you are the current keeper. Apart from that with a little persistence - all should be fine.
Be prepared to chase-up a few unreturned calls. It seems that once OPC realised that you not booking in for a service or funding them in some way the become (even more!) lax!
Let me know if it helps.
