Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It's tricky, I replaced the two 13cm ones (in my C4S) with a pair of Infinity Kappas, apart from the obvious removing the door trim (very tricky), the wave guide bass 'tube' needed trimming and a little Dynamatting for the Kappa to fit.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
After spending a year with the car and my Pioneer AVIC D3bti head unit I feel the time has come to do something about the rubbish speakers so can anyone advise me as I have no idea when it comes to these things!
Can I confirm with anyone that the front (dash) and rear speakers in a 996 with the Porsche Sound Package are 10cm and that the door speakers are 13cm? These seem to be what people spec looking through the search results.
Can anyone tell me the difference between co-axial / component speakers? Which do I need? What is the deal with cross overs? And lastly, will the amp already in the car be sufficient?
I am not looking for MAX POWER base but I would like the sound not to distort when turned up to a reasonable level. Will replacing the 6 speakers do it?
Many thanks in advance
Guy
After a lot of messing and trying other speakers, I'm having Focal ones put in mine this week. I'll let you know how it goes.
10cm components KP100, I think the model is, in the dash and a slightly cheaper Focal in the rear. Keeping the Porsche bass unit as been advised it's tricky to change and not always worth the money to mess with.
Being wired directly to a goo Alpine head unit, which puts out 50w, so more than enough.
Stereo shop did want to sell me an amp in the luggage space, but on a C$ I have precious little anyway so declined. Also suggested I might want a bass unit in the cabin somewhere but these can be added after.
All for £380 inc fitting.
Cheers, Tim

Did it sound any better? Marginal, The wave guide helps reinforce the bass but without tuning for the better quality speaker any improvements might take quite a bit of experimenting.
Damian, I did have a look at doing that after emailing you some months before and eventually decided it wasn't worth it, especially for a cab.
Even my local hifi shop keeps telling me what poor quality I'll get with a 'soft' roof. :x
However I was sceptical about doing the dash with 10cm components as they are so small. I wanted a standard setup with 13cm components in the door, tweeter in the dash and cheaper wones in the back for balance. But they talked me out of it and have convinced me to put the 10cm ones in and keep the bass unit.
If it sounds cr@p I'll make them take it out and do it my way. Give me a few days and I'll let you all know...
