Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2000 996 Coupe has a horn that beeps perfectly when I use my key to alarm the car. However, when I push on the airbag the horn does not sound. Even when pushing hard, the air bag does not budge forward or give in anyway to indicate that it is being compressed. Any thoughts would be helpful.

POST 2Original post

Two different horns. The alarm horn is under the cowl by the battery. The driving horns are under the front bumper cover. This is a video showing changing horns on a Boxster. The 996 has two screws behind the marker light. One that is easy and one under the wheel well cover. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pxqCU5i5nM 996 bumper cover removal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um-h2aUJHY4

Horn relay? Fuse for horn? track these down and check them

POST 4Original post

Probably need new horns. Pretty common problem. Once you get the bumper off, check voltage at the connectors to the horns and if you have voltage replace the horns... Here is a link to the horn page...
